You wake up to find yourself in a pitch-black room. You have no recollection of how you got there. Or where 'there' is for that matter. |

You're wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. There is a small, folded up piece of paper in one pocket and a what feels like a small piece of thin metal. |

Feel the piece of metal. Is it sharp? Is it a blade? A file? |

It's not sharp and it doesn't feel like a blade or file. It feels round like a toothpick, but the ends aren't pointy. Nor is the metal straight, but bent into some sort of shape. |

The shape: Circle? Oval? Square? Rectangle? How many corners? Is it a closed shape or an open one? So, we're dealing with a metal rod, bent into a unknown shape, correct? Lateral adventures are abounding right now! It makes me happy :D |

It's sort of a cross between ovular and rectangular. There are no corners. You would have to say it's opened because the ends don't meet, they're parallel. |

Examine the piece of paper. Can you see well enough to read what's on it, if anything? |

Cautiously, I get up and walk forward. After about 10 steps I feel a wall. It feels like concrete. |

Walk to the left along the wall as far as you can go. Any doors or openings? Also, can you touch the ceiling? |

Walking along the wall to the left, I find nothing until I run into the corner. Continuing left, I feel a metal square, mostly flush with the wall. Two smaller pieces of metal protrude from the left side of the metal square. One on top of another about 4 inches apart. I stop here and reach upward, but feel nothing. |

This appears to do nothing, but upon further exploration of the metal square, there seems to be a key-hole on the far right side. |

Keeping contact with the wall, as to not lose my place, and searches the floor. There's nothing within reach. I would have to step away from the wall to see if there's anything else to be found. |

So, the metal piece is in a 'U' shape? Okay *takes deep breath*, step directly away from the wall for, say, ten steps, or until you hit the opposite wall, whichever comes first. Say, this room is in the usual rectangular/square shape, yes? Or is it some other shape? |

Not really, I think I'll wait to see if I can find light to see my piece of metal. I walk ten steps and still haven't hit another wall. I'm going to assume it is a normal room for now. |

Going back to the wall and continuing left. I run into another corner. Left still, I discover what I assume to be a bed. Walking around that I find, possibly a table? Or maybe a desk? This item is pushed into the corner. Assuming this room has 4 wall, I'm now on the last wall. I come across a light switch and possibly a door. |

I flip the switch. A dim light comes on, but I can make out my surroundings. To my left the is an end-table and a bed. Straight ahead it the metal square. It looks like a breaker box, but I can't be sure. To my right is a door. It appears to need some sort of pass code to unlock it. The far right wall is empty. |

I guessed it was a paper clip after I learned it was rectangular but without corners, but I arrived at this puzzle too late... What kind of keys does the door lock have? If it's letters try CPY (the numbers, with A=1, B=2, etc.). If it's digits, then I'll let someone else guess, because I can't tell for sure what the rule is for this sequence, if any, from only three numbers. |

I go to the supposed breaker box and examine it. It's locked, so I can't look inside. Next I look under the bed, on the bed, and between the bedding. There's a pillowcase with a pillow in it, a bottom and top sheet, and a comforter on the bed, but nothing beneath. Lastly, I check out the end table. In the drawer there is only a flashlight. Nothing on top or below it though. |
