A king had a beautiful daughter whom many knights wanted to marry. The king, however, wanted to put the knights to a test before giving her daughter's hand to any one of them. The knights were to go to a dragon's cave and kill the dragon. However, this dragon was a tough case. When it was decapitated, seven new heads would grow in the place of the original head, and if any of the new heads were cut off, seven further heads would grow, etc. One brave knight was able to defeat the dragon, however. How? | ||

Ok, Ok, ******** SPOILER ************* he stabbed it in the heart, yes :-) ... Let's make it a bit more difficult: Stabbing the dragon's heart cannot kill it, as it would melt the sword/other weapon/bullet. Dynamite hasn't yet been invented. Strangulation is also out of the question. | ||

Years? *He* didn't have to spend many seconds, but the dragon was not defeated immediately. Did the dragon really die ? Yes Were any other animals involved ? No | ||

No, wait, that wouldn't work... *slaps forehead* Did he cut off a few heads, then trap it in the cave while escaping himself, then wait for it to crush itself? | ||

Congrats! You're close enough, even if I thought some minor details differently, so that we can conclude this puzzle for good - ********* SPOILER ************ The knight went into the dragon's cave and cut out a few of the heads until the dragon was unable to squeeze out of the cave (through the cave mouth) anymore, because of its grown size (=number of heads). The dragon ultimately died of hunger. |
