So if (some parts of?) the general public had displayed or made something available, (some other part of?) the general public wouldn't need to? Wouldn't need to take an action? make a decision? make something? make something else available? |

So these things are something that is out on the shelves in a supermarket, and is available, but not out on the shelves, in a pharmacy? no, these things could be out on the shelves of a pharmacy and a supermarket as well as other outlets, however the lack of availability of items connected with these things means that we have to use these things instead |

Oh, is it that the testers often aren't there or are empty, or are nasty and dried out? And as often as not, someone's opened up a fresh package to test? Is what we have to do is buy without knowing for sure that it's a good color? |

By Barbara Johannessen Bailey (Rabrab) on Monday, May 30, 2005 - 04:15 pm: Is what "they" should put out the little individual testers, like MaryKay and Avon use? YES! *********************SPOILER******************** A silly puzzle inspired by my recent trip to Boots to get some makeup. I could not find an available tester for anything I wanted to try so ended up trying out the 'non-testers'. Interestingly they had a sign out saying 'Please refrain from using products to test' or something to that effect anyway but if sales staff put them out in the first place then I wouldn't have too! - So frustrating! Well done Rabrab |

Y'know, if Trixie hadn't mentioned the testers, I would never have even thought of that, since there are almost never testers around. I'd just about forgotten that they really exist. Nice puzzle; lots of directions to wander off in. |

Couldn't agree more Rabrab - good puzzle! As Pandora says, so often you find a colour you think you might like and then find there is no tester available. It would also be useful if more shops put a box of tissues available to wipe the make-up off the back of your hand (if, of course, you do actually find a tester to use!). So far, I have only been in one shop in the UK which offers them. |
