the source of air he found - before he used it was it contained in a sealed container of some sort? were there balloons in the room which he used as a source of air? was there something unusual in the room - that would not normally be in hotel rooms? was the source of air he used of the same composition as normal air? | ||

Lynne and Kdoc, Did he let air out of the radiator? NO (GOOD IDEA THOUGH) the source of air he found - before he used it was it contained in a sealed container of some sort? I SUPPOSE SO were there balloons in the room which he used as a source of air? NO was there something unusual in the room - that would not normally be in hotel rooms? IT WAS A STANDARD HOTEL ROOM was the source of air he used of the same composition as normal air? YES | ||

Tobasi, Did he breathe the air of the waste pipe putting a tube or similar through the ellbow of the toilet (as the water separated the air)? YES * * * SPOILER * * * He pushed a rubber tube through the bend of the toilet bowl and breathed the air in the pipe beyond. The water in the toilet formed a barrier to the smoke. The puzzle is based on a patent for a 'toilet snorkel' designed to be used as a lifesaver in just such circumstances. regards Paul | ||
