It was a remarkable achievement but I could have done without the memorial. |

Remarkable as in that you actually admire that achievement and think it was something good? Or just something that was pretty hard to achieve? Or remarkable as in strange? or even a bit weird? Would you think it would be nice if that achievement was repeated in some way, by someone (else)? Could it be repeated? Was it something that was achieved by one single person? Or achieved by some non-human entity or -ies? Does the fact that you could have done without the memorial have something to do with the nature of the achievement? Or just with the nature of the memorial? Was the memorial "stupid" in some way? |

Brid Is this a true story? Yes About you? No but I am personally involved Is it memorial as in gravestone? On the right track Mani Remarkable as in that you actually admire that achievement and think it was something good? I admired the achievement but as to it being good - I am not so sure! Or just something that was pretty hard to achieve? Mostly - Yes Or remarkable as in strange? Yes or even a bit weird? Yes Would you think it would be nice if that achievement was repeated in some way, by someone (else)? Definitely not! Could it be repeated? I have never seen it done before but I guess it has been and I imagine that it could be repeated Was it something that was achieved by one single person? Yope Or achieved by some non-human entity or -ies? Yes Does the fact that you could have done without the memorial have something to do with the nature of the achievement? Yes Or just with the nature of the memorial? This too Was the memorial "stupid" in some way? Yope |

So, I'm seeing before me this crazy dog owner, training his dog (let's call it Snoopy) to fly a small private airplane. The training is succesfull, and after many years of meticulous preparation, the master lets his dog out on its major challenge: Snoopy the pilot is going to cross the British Channel! And he manages it too, but still finally crashes in some farm-yard near Calais. Someone puts a fence around the plane-wreck, and declares the place to be more or less holy ground; nobody may touch the wreck, apart from removing and burying the dog itself. A golden sign is put up on the fence, telling about the mighty feat and its final outcome. Is the way in which the monument "resulted from an event" in any way similar to the scenario I've described above? |

Yes Well no, but your suggestion certainly deserves some sort of prize Is the way in which the monument "resulted from an event" in any way similar to the scenario I've described above? I suppose it depends on the flexibility of you my imagination. There may be some similarities but the human involvment was far more passive |

How many animals are involved? Is there any human being involved? If so, how many? Do any animals die? If so, how many? Is it a domestic animal? Dog? Cat? Bird? Does the puzzle involve one or more people training one or more animal to do something? Any non-animate objects or tools involved? Did one or more animal create the "monument"? If so, is the event of creating the monument in itself the achievement? Or at least part of the achievement? Is it a monkey? I had one more great question, but I forgot it. Well no, but your suggestion certainly deserves some sort of prize Cool. How about asking some standard questions on my puzzle ("The Profundities of a Fuzzy Weltanschauung")? |

Does the human being get hurt? Are you the human being? Is the following relevant about the human being: Sex? Age? Occupation? So the "memorial" is simply a left-over from the achievement? But perhaps more of a side-effect of the achievement than something that is per definition an essential part of it? Is it relevant what kind of place the achievement takes place in? Is it outdoors? Indoors? Is the human being acquainted with the animal since before? Approximate size of the animal? Number of legs? Is it thinkable that there are other species which could have performed the same achievement? The animal is the one which achieves the achievement, right? Could an exact number be given of the non-animate objects involved? If so, how many? Are we dealing with some kind of tools? Or with "tools"? Or with something else? Or both; several different kinds of objects? |

Oh, now I know. So a flying ant has run astray and is now inside your house. There it is a bit confused and spends it time carrying around lost (human made, metallic) needles just like it usually would carry around pine needles. One day you discover this ant and try to stomp on it. It instinctively defends itself by flying into your mouth and down into your throat, all the while still carrying a needle. You of course have to go through an operation in order to get out the needle, and the scar you get from this is the thing which should be interpreted as the memorial monument, and also as the "grave stone" of the ant since it died in your stomach in the vicinity of this scar. |

Correct Is it relevant what kind of place the achievement takes place in? Yes Is it outdoors? Indoors? Indoors Is the human being acquainted with the animal since before? No Approximate size of the animal? Very small Number of legs? six Is it thinkable that there are other species which could have performed the same achievement? I imagine similar species can do the same thing The animal is the one which achieves the achievement, right? Right Could an exact number be given of the non-animate objects involved? Yes If so, how many? One Are we dealing with some kind of tools? Yesish - maybe misleading Or with "tools"? No Or with something else? Or both; several different kinds of objects? Does this six-legged animal have wings? Do you kill the animal? Or does it kill itself as part of its achievement? Is the tool used by you? or by the animal? So I guess this takes place in your home? Is it an apartement? Or a house? Is it relevant what kind of room? Time of the year: Summer? Winter? Spring? Autumn? Relevant? |

Does the achievement of the animal involve damaging this tool of yours? Or does it make a mess of something else in your apartement? Or does it damage something else? Is it an ant? A beetle? Is it relevant on what floor the room is? |

It only messed up one thing but I could've answered yes to all of these questions i.e. it messed up one specific item, earlier refered to as a tool Is it an ant? A beetle? Neither but has similar ities with both Is it relevant on what floor the room is? No |

So some kind of small bug got on the inside your computer screen? And did you leave it there until it died by itself? Or was it dead when you discovered it? So it left a permanent mark on your screen, by itself? What happens with a bug on the inside of a computer screen, by the way? Does it get elecrocuted? Or burned to death in some way? Was it an LCD screen? Or one of those big normal old-fashioned ones? Or did you destroy the screen in order to get it out from there? Or did this event make your screen totally kaput? |

So some kind of small bug got on the inside your computer screen? Yes Exactly! And did you leave it there until it died by itself? Leave it? - If you can tell me how to get it out I would be most grateful! - but Yes! Or was it dead when you discovered it? No So it left a permanent mark on your screen, by itself? Yes What happens with a bug on the inside of a computer screen, by the way? Does it get elecrocuted? Or burned to death in some way? I am not too sure - it lived for a bout a day, wandering around inside of my screen and then evidently died. I don't suppose the heat did it much good!. Anywy, it's still there now, hence the memorial Was it an LCD screen? Yes, a new 19 inch Flatron L1915S. Well, I say new, but I bought it second hand. Or one of those big normal old-fashioned ones? Or did you destroy the screen in order to get it out from there? No Or did this event make your screen totally kaput? No *************** spoiler **************** I was merrily working away on my PC when I noticed a bug (something like a thunderbug/miniature beetle or louse type creature) crawling around on the inside of my 19" LCD monitor. Quite an achievement I thought - to get inside there. I hoped it would depart by the same manner that it entered into my monitor but come the next day I found it stationary, parked somewhere up the left middle of the screen, evidently deceased. I am looking at its lifeless body at this very moment - intruding in the puzzle - as I type the solution. I could have done without the memorial! (Anyway, well done Mani) |
