Type of competition There could be one such competetion in Guiness Book of World records? Was it being televised? Was it related to track and field event? Could be considered a sport? Did it involve physical contact with the other competitors? Did it involve physical contact with someother thing? animal? inanimate thing? Was it one on one... i mean can only two people compete at a given time? Did all the competitors take part in the competition at one go? Or was it elimination type (after one loses he's out rest continue till one is the winner)? Wrestling? Boxing? Karate/Sumo similar sports? Did involve any animals? Did have to deal with some kind of destruction? Did they have to destroy something? Did they have to seriously injure something? Is there any death involved to any person/animal etc? Are there any signs of blood? Time of the competition night?day?relavant? place of the competition in global perspective?Asia?Europe?Africa?NA?SA?Aus?Antarctica? Era of the competition? Modern (present day)? Medival (roman/greek/egyption empires)? Stoneage? Was it in a stadium? Was it a national event? Was it a supervised competition? i mean well-organized? or impromptu (like a bet)? |

Was the man trying to demonstrate something when he had his fall? trying to compete with someone? trying to break some kind of performance record? Does the 'contest' mentioned in the puzzle take place in a fixed time frame (example: all contestants have 10 minutes to see who can eat the most hot dogs)? Or does it have an open time frame (example: here's a tall mountain - from now on, whoever climbs this mountain gets a free Coke)? Is it different from these? |

Was the thing he fell onto on the sidewalk? Was there any irony or significance in him falling on it? Is it something normally found under a balcony? Did someone put it there earlier, or is it always there? Did it stop him from being more hurt? Is it some sort of equipment (something someone would use for a job)? |

So, a guy was in a spitting contest which he won. In the process of spitting, as he was lunging forward his momentum carried him off the balcony he was standing on. He landed on a chair (folding, lounge, deck chair) and suffered major injuries (head, legs, torso), but which prevented even more substantial injuries. Is there anything else I need to figure out? |

He landed on a chair (folding, lounge, deck chair) and suffered major injuries (head, legs, torso), but which prevented even more substantial injuries. Is there anything else I need to figure out?well, I guess that's enough *****************SPOILER**************** Some friends of one of my coworkers were having a party and were very, very drunk, when one of them decided to have a spitting contest. They would stand on the balcony and spit into the swimming pool. One extremely drunk contestant decided that to give his spit some extra momentum he would get a running start. Well, needless to say, this was not a good idea, because as his spit went flying a winning distance, he went tumbling over the balcony railing onto the concrete poolside. He sustained a concussion, and a broken bone or two, I believe, but it would have been much worse if his fall had not been broken by a cheap plastic pool chair! (His head hit the chair before it hit the ground All his friends, of course, were stunned and frightened for his life, and the spitting contest didn't seem so important anymore.} Good job solving yet another of my puzzles, Puzzlicious! Have a go at my other 2! And I'll post another tonight or tomorrow. Now what's this Charles thing about, Bodo? |
