As soon as the students were told to start meditating, Electra yelled, "Help! Help!" She was in no danger, but her response was reasonable. How come?? |

Meditation as in actual Zen meditation/Zazen or something similar? Meditating as thinking deeply about something? Electra is one of the students? Are the students members of a class? Class taught by a teacher? School class? Some sort of yoga class or whatever some people come up with? Were they told to start meditating by the class leader (teacher) ? All students are in the same age group? Kids? Teens? Twens? Older? I actually know a lady named Electra, I've just been to a concert of hers and her band a few hours ago! |

By meditating... did somebody instruct them to "Think" about something? But they used the phrase to meditate upon it? Was Electra testing a theory? One that was proposed in class? Was she testing to see if anybody jumped up to come to her aid? Was she testing to see if everybody would remain seated rather than act? Had they just been briefed on the concept of the Bystander effect (I think that's what it's called - where they've shown that the more people there are observing a person in need, the less likely somebody is to help them because they all assume somebody else will take care of it)? |

Did Electra try to meditate? When she yelled "Help", had the other students already started meditating? Did she understand what meditating was? Did she mishear the teacher? Misunderstand him/her? She was in no danger, but did she think she was in danger? Was she saying "help" to the students? the teacher? to all of them? |

"Help" in this case does it mean: - I need assistance - I need instructions - I have a problem - I am in danger - it is her mantra Does it mean something totally different, and you are just misleading us? Did anyone else say "Help, help"? |

Is it her first time meditating? Is she just being clever about something the instructor or anyone else said earlier? Such as "meditating is totally safe"? Is she yelling because she wants to stop meditating? to do something else instead? Does she continue meditating after yelling? Is it obvious for everyone that it is Electra who is yelling? Does any participant have a disability? Is it happening outside or inside? relevant? |

Is it a response to what the instructor is saying about: - the technique used to get into a meditative state - the sensation you would possibly feel (sinking, falling) - contact with the spiritual world - relaxing and concentrating on a single thing - clearing your mind of all thoughts - altered state of consciousness - getting in touch with hidden memories |

Does it start as a simple situation, such as picture where you (Electra) are alone in this scenery where you can see, hear, feel or smell this and that? Is it enough for Electra to start yelling? Or, is the scenery and the meditative (instruction or information?) something that together would be dangerous? For instance: "You are alone in a field of flowers - Take a deep breath... (bad if you have allergies)" "You are floating on clouds/water/etc - Your body feels heavier and heavier..." |

Are the students supposed to respond to a question from the instructor? Such as the first thing that comes to mind in this scenery? or to express a feeling? |

When Electra asked for help - Is she just screaming? Or actually saying the word - Help? Is she saying this in a language others can understand - I mean she is not saying in Sanskrit in a class full of Russians? |

Actually, I think this is ready for a ****SPOILER************ Electra's mediatation instructor was stupid enough to say, "Close your eyes & imagine you're in a canoe in the middle of the ocean," So Electra started screaming, "Help! Help!" "What's the mayter?" asked the instructor. "Don't you mean a lake?" Electra asked gently. (Adapted from a real incident.) A new puzzle awaits you--guess where. |
