Some people were angry at him. When they found out more about him, they regretted being angry. |

'Some people' same as 'they/they'? and both 'him' the same person? All human adults? Any of these relevant; his job? his education? his background? his hobbies/interests? his family? era? location? Where they angry at him for something he had done? not done? Something they thought he had done? not done? Did they know him before this (before being angry at him)? Is there anything relevant about 'them'? |

Should he have done something? Is this something also important to determine? His family is relevant. So is it; his parent? sibling(s)? wife? children? other family members? |

That thing he should have done, does it have something to do with his wife and children? Does it matter how many children he has? |

So let's get this straight. There is something he should have done, but didn't do. Correct? And something bad happened, but this was not related to the thing he should have done. Right? |

Are we looking for one very specific thing he should have done , instead of the general ones I listed earlier? Is it something he should have done for the children? about them? with the them? |

I just wondered if they were angry at him as an individual i.e. angry at HIM speicifically, or if they didn't know him and therefore were just angry that no one had done it, but I think you answered that in the last question was he on strike? did he provide a public service? is he a garbage man? street cleaner? postman? |

So there was something he should have done about his children. Was this something that affected other people when it was not done? |

Did they only think that the children misbehaved? Or is it something generally regarded as misbehaviour? Did they say anything? anything impolite? Did they do anything? not do anything? The bad thing that happened: Did anyone die? Was anyone hurt? Was anything destroyed? |

Did they only think that the children misbehaved? Or is it something generally regarded as misbehaviour? Can you rephrase these two questions? Did they say anything? anything impolite? assuming "they" refers to the children...they were being rambunctious and unruly, but was not doing or saying anything in particular...I think the reason for people's anger is clear enough now for the sake of this puzzle...need to work on why they regretted being angry... Did they do anything? not do anything? The bad thing that happened: Did anyone die? yes Was anyone hurt? no Was anything destroyed?no Did the children misbehave because they were never told off when they mishave? no Becuase of something else?yesish |

Did one person die? several? Was the person(s) who died: the mother of the children? one of the children? the man? a stranger? Is the way the person died relevant? by illness? accident? murder? Did they regret being angry when they knew that someone had died? |

I think it's close enough now... *************** SPOILER **************** A man walked into a subway car with his children. His children were loud and unruly, and were annoying the other passengers in the car. A fellow, equally irritated as others, asked the man if there was something he could do about his children. The man came out of his daze, and agreed...adding that he and his children just came out of the hospital where his wife died recently, and his children were probably at a loss over how to react to this fact as much as he was. The anger in the subway car changed to sympathy for the man and his children, and the fellow passengers regretted passing judgement prematurely. |

Thanks for playing, Eli. I actually got this story from a session that touched on paradigm shifts. I guess that's what lateral thinking is all about. Cheers! |
