When Jay wrote something critical of Eleanora, she got revenge by writing something favorable about him. How come? |

What Eleanora wrote: was it written in a book? was it a magazine article? newspaper article? newspaper editorial? did Eleanora work with Jay? was Jay Eleanora's boss? was Eleanora Jay's boss? did they know each other personally? |

Had Jay built up a bad reputation, which Eleanora knocked down? Was Eleanora speaking sarcastically? Is it relevant where the things were written? In a newspaper? Magazine? Privately? Was Jay's criticism accurate? Was the favourable thing about Jay accurate? Is it relevant what exactly Jay said about Eleanora? What exactly she said about him? |

Was Eleanora's comment taken to be a compliment to Jay? Or was it more ofa backhanded compliment? Would the comments have been read by many people? Would anyone reading Eleanora's writing have thought more of Jay? Or thought less of him? Was this just a private revenge that only Eleanora understood? If so, was this because she risked being fired if she outwardly got revenge aginst her boss? Was Jay's comment written in an evaluation of Eleanora's performance? In a reference? |

was Eleanora addressed specifically in the memo? or was did the memo address a general "group" of people, and Eleanora knew she was the reason that the memo was written?(for example, could the memo have read, "any employee doing "x"/ not doing "x" will be reprimanded")--something along these lines? was Jay's comment about time management--how late Eleanora arrived at work? how early she left? how often/ how long she went on breaks? how long her lunch time was? sloppy work? computer usage? playing on the computer instead of working? internet misusage? telephone usage--using it for private calls? not turning things in on time? not being a thorough worker? messiness (like her workspace)? did Jay think Eleanora was too loud? did Jay think Eleanora was rude? to him? to clients? to fellow workers? |

Is it relevant whether Jay's criticism was funded in reality or not? If so, was it? Did Eleonora write ONLY good things about him, or does she mention the fact that he as criticised her? (was thinking something like 'even though he gave be a bad review, he is a good boss/nice person/etc') The good things she wrote about him, would it still have a possible negative effect for him even if he hadn't written the bad things about her? |

Was Jay's and Eleanora's professions relevant? If so [LTPF list of professions]? Is the fact that Jay noticed the negative fact that she wrote about Eleanora proof that Jay had done something wrong? (For example, they were construction workers, and Jay said that Eleanora wasn't as attractive as most of the pedestrians, and that meant that Jay was ogling pedestrians rather than doing his job.) Is the fact that Eleanora was able to notice the positive fact that she wrote about Jay proof that Jay had done something wrong? Did Eleanora want Jay to get promoted? So he wouldn't be her boss anymore? |

OK here goes! Eleanora was a first mate of some ship. One day, the captain(Jay} put in the ship's log "First mate was drunk today". The mate pleaded for him to take out the entry from the book but Jay was adament, saying that only the truth would be written. So how did Eleanora get revenge? When it was her time to write the log, she put,"Captain is sober today" to imply that the Captain usually is drunk! |
