Ironically nobody entered the competition for the “elderly” age group and we were doing a favour for our friend, Maree. She was the photographer assigned to the job and she offered to find an “elderly” couple at short notice. did you think the picture was not flattering of you? No of your wife? Definitely not! There have been many people (friends and colleagues) who made the same/similar comments once they saw or heard about it was the person who made the comment a friend? acquantaince? relative? someone who did not know you? see above was the comment based on a physical attribute? yes did the person say the picture made you look fat? no unattractive? yes silly? was the person making a comment based on the contest itself? no did he say you were silly to enter? noish that it was humorous seeing you on the back of the bus? yes and ... that the award for the contest was silly? noish There is one key point to get.... | ||

Exactly – well done! ************** SPOILER ******************* My wife and I were invited by a photographer friend of ours to be models for a project that involved having our shots embedded on new passenger buses. The main shot was to be on the back of the bus. I instantly recognised the implication. “A face like the back (end) of a bus” is a common saying in the UK (not sure about anywhere else) to convey that somebody is less than beautiful in appearance! Anyway we agreed and entered into the spirit of it and enjoyed the experience. As predicted many friends and colleagues capitalised on the opportunity to rib us about the whole thing by using the play on words “You’ve go a face like the back of a bus”.
