The first time I saw a car ad, I thought they were real! Only later did I realize the truth... |

A specific car ad? Or the first time you saw any car ad ever? Were they in the car ad? Are they real? Did you think you got them when you bought a car? Are they inside the car? on the seats? dashboard? in the engine? Do they make a car run faster? look prettier? drive easier? |

Are they something talked about in the ad? Something in the fine print? Did you simply infer their existence from the ad? Relevant what was written in the ad? What was pictured? What type of car it was for? |

Was it some other car specification that made you believe they were real? Or should we just stick with horsepower and explore? |

Does "they" have something to do with the car? Or also on the material on which the car AD was printed? Is it relevant where the AD was printed? If yes, then was it printed on a newspaper? If yes, is anything about the newspaper relevant? Was it printed on a billboard? Any other hoarding? A magazine? A car magazine? Other? Is it relevant what else was in the ad except for the car? Did the "thing" have to do with something else that is associated with the car, and not only the car itself? If it were the ad of any other automobile, would you still think they were real? or it has to do only with this specific ad? Would ads of other car models work? Did you realize that they were not real when you saw the same AD on television? |

Was it some other car specification that made you believe they were real? No Or should we just stick with horsepower and explore? Yes Note in the below, "they" didn't really have anything to do with the car or anything else in the ad, since they're not real; I just misinterpreted what it said. So I'll answer the questions below according to what I thought at the time Does "they" have something to do with the car? Yes Or also on the material on which the car AD was printed? No Is it relevant where the AD was printed? No If yes, then was it printed on a newspaper? If yes, is anything about the newspaper relevant? Was it printed on a billboard? Any other hoarding? A magazine? A car magazine? Other? Is it relevant what else was in the ad except for the car? No Did the "thing" have to do with something else that is associated with the car, and not only the car itself? No If it were the ad of any other automobile, would you still think they were real? Possibly or it has to do only with this specific ad? As stated before, lots of car ads have the thing that I saw that made me think "they" were real Would ads of other car models work? Yes Did you realize that they were not real when you saw the same AD on television? Not as soon as I saw one car ad, but eventually after seeing car ads on television I caught on to what was going on |

Could you have had your misconception if you'd heard "horsepower" referred to as "HP" rather than "horsepower"? (that's not what I was asking in my previous post, but it just occurred to me that it might have been...) Could you have has this misconception if you'd heard "brake horse power" instead of "horsepower"? did you mishear the word "horse"? think it was a different word? Did you think there were 50 of some physical entity (if the car was a 50HP car)? |
