Billy was accused of being rude, even though it wasn't really his fault. |

Some type of pun? Is it not his fault because he does not know something that others expect him to? Is this 'something' a social rule of engagement; that is to say, is he forgetting to shake someone's hand at the appropriate time, etc.? Or is this 'something' a less conventional bit of knowledge, i.e., a company trade secret? |

Was he accused of being rude because he said something? Did something? Was what he did/said considered rude only in certain cultures? If someone else did what Billy was accused of, would Billy have considered that rude? |

Did he insult somebody? Or say something that he shouldn't have said? Or did the listeners think he did? Is a mishearing involved? Are the circumstances in which Billy said it relevant? Or would he have been accused of being rude whatever the circumstances? Did he make a statement? Ask a question? Is it relevant who the speech was directed at? Who was listening at the time? Who exactly accused Billy of being rude? |

When you say it wasn't his fault, do you mean that Billy didn't mean to sound rude? Was he in fact saying something ordinary, but it simply sounded rude? Or do you mean that what Billy said was truly rude, but he was in some way justified? handicapped? |

Was he simply stating frankly a characteristic of a person? For example, maybe he called someone who was overweight - fat? Wasn't really his fault since it was true, but perhaps he is a little simple such as our old friend Forrest Gump, and simply states things as they are? |

RECAP: Billy was accused of being rude because of what he said, even though it wasn't really his fault (since he wasn't aware of something). He is a human, non-adult, male student at school (he's about 6-10). What he said would be considered rude in all circumstances. It was a simple statement. The speech was directed at his teacher. In a way, he was stating a characteristic of a person. He was too young to know what he was actually saying. He said in in response to the teacher's question. He was, sort of, quoting someone else. And hint: the teacher's sex is relevant. There are also other persons involved. |

So, small recap: The rude thing that Billy said was something he heard from another man. He didn't know what it meant, and was unaware that he was being offensive. What did he say? You pretty much determined that - a compliment about the teacher's, um, gluteus maximus. What is left to deterine are minor details: why was the boy compelled to repeat after the man? |

Was the sneaky inspector whispering "the answer" to a question to Billy (just to have some fun on his expense)? or did Billy think the inspector was telling him the answer? The latter! *** SPOILER *** This is another joke I know: An inspector came to Billy's class (1st grade) to inspect the learning process. The teacher, eager to show him the children's progress, procedeed to write a short sentence on the blackboard; halfway through the sentence, she dropped the chalk and stooped down to reach for it. Then, she said: "Billy, read what is written on the blackboard?" Billy loudly says: "What a nice a*s!" "How dare you!" the angry and embarrassed teacher shouts. "After class, we'll go to the headmaster! And tomorrow come with your parents!" Billy begins sobbing and turns back to the inspector, saying: "If you can't read, don't whisper answers!" |
