So I'm looking at the box, and according to what's on there 300 = 730. What's up with that?

"The box"
Relevant what that box is? Seems to me like its a television, or a computer.
And of course, "I",
HAM? Is it you? Are you an alien that has infiltrated our network and has added a new base system?

Is what's on there right?
Because I don't think 300 is equal to 730... although I've only got two maths degrees, so we didn't count that far yet.
So is there something written on the box? Is "300" an amount of something? of some quantifiable thing? is 730?
Are either of the numbers 300 or 730 written on the box?
so the box is sort of like matchbox sized, but with one square side? Is it a cuboidical box? Does it have a slidey out bit like a matchbox? a lid?

Is what's on there right? Er, not sure I understand...
Because I don't think 300 is equal to 730... Me neither - go figure. although I've only got two maths degrees, so we didn't count that far yet. Well, hang in there. (:
So is there something written on the box? Yes. Is "300" an amount of something? Yes. of some quantifiable thing? Yes. is 730? Harder to answer - I'd say yes.
Are either of the numbers 300 or 730 written on the box? No, there goes the FA.
so the box is sort of like matchbox sized, but with one square side? No, bigger than a matchbox, I would say. Figure the ends are 2x2" and the sides are 3x2", approximately - here most matchboxes are either smaller (say, 2x1x.5") or larger (say, 1x4x6"). Is it a cuboidical box? I don't believe so - more prismatic, I think. Does it have a slidey out bit like a matchbox? No. a lid? A basic flaps-type closing mechanism on two opposite sides, if that makes sense (two shorter flaps and one that goes the whole way perpendicular to them, with a tongue what sticks down).

Does 300 represents the supposed quantity of things in the box?
But it was actually 730?
Did you count the things in the box?
Was it all smashed up and that was why it was 730 things?
Are the actual contents relevant to the answer?
Were they something like nails, panel pins, washers, drawing pins (poster pins?), paper clips?

Is there some date/time which is 300 days in the future which is relevant? 300 hours?
Does the box imply that two things happen at the same time which actually don't happen at the same time?
Are 300 and 730 both the same type of thing? units of time?
The other two boxes - are they both the same size as this one? did the contain the same type of thing? Were they part of a set? Do they have any relevant writing on them? identical to that on our original box?

Does the box imply that two things happen at the same time which actually don't happen at the same time? No.
Are 300 and 730 both the same type of thing? No. units of time? One is.
The other two boxes - are they both the same size as this one? Yes (although there's a slight and very understandable FA going on here). did they contain the same type of thing? Yes (same FA). Is it perhaps relevant that 730 days is exactly two years (as long as you pick the right two years)?

Is the thing that was inside the box something you'd use every day? Were there 100 of the relevant thing inside the box? Did the box claim that three such boxes would constitute two years' supply?

That 1 box would supply 2 years?
Leave one day, the puzzle has sprouted. I'm lost Recap please?
Where did the 100 come in, does that mean 300? Do you only need 300 things for 2 years, in other words 300=730?

Do you use the thing twice a day? Two of the thing once a day?
And the box claimed that 300 would be enough for a year?

Where did the 100 come in, does that mean 300? 100 per box, three boxes total. Do you only need 300 things for 2 years, in other words 300=730? No, this is part of the confusion I caused by alluding to the 730 as days - it does relate to days, however.

Recap: There are words on a box of something I use every day which somehow imply that 300 total units are the same as 730. Each box has 100 units in it (which is why there are two other relevant boxes which don't actually exist yet). The relevance of 730 is that it is equal to two times the number of days in a year.

Hopefully my phrasing in the above will be less misleading.

(I'm thinking contact lenses, but I've got no idea how they're packaged or anything about them really...)

**** Spoiler ****
As I noted in one of Felicia Nimue's puzzles, I'm a type-2 diabetic (basically my cells aren't utilizing insulin to use sugar). I'm not on medication (yet), instead using diet and exercise to control it (although I am taking cinnamon). Part of controlling it entails checking my blood sugar to ensure it's not getting too high. On the box of test strips (the little thingummies I put in the machine and then add a drop of blood to) it has the following instructions: "TEST TWICE A DAY". In addition, however, it indicates that "200 UNITS REMAIN TILL 07/16/2008"* (it was filled on 7/17/2007*). Given that there are 254 days between today and July 16, 2008, and that I'm on the last 25 of the first 100 I received on July 17th (no, I haven't been testing twice a day), I'm thinking they somehow believe that I can use up a test strip twice a day and somehow get 730 (732 in a leap year, I suppose) uses even though the total number of strips is only 300. Apparently the doctor's instructions/recommendations don't really mean much to the insurance company (which would, apparently, rather pay for surgeries resulting from the complications of diabetes than for test strips). And no, any given strip can only be used once. I admit, I do use the lancets more than once (those cost me $10 for 100) (:
