When they saw the result of the football game, the foreign automobile manufacturers were very happy. Why? |

Did the car manufacturers sponsor one of the teams? The winners? Football as in Soccer? American Football? Is the team's name similar to that of the car company? Is the fact that they're a foreign car manufacturer relevant? Would this puzzle work if they were from the same country as the football teams? Is this a true story? location relevant? Europe? US? Asia ? Australia? Africa? South America ? North America? |

Relevant where the foreign manufacturers are located? Are both team names relevant? Just the winner? Just the loser? Does the company think that people will be buying more cars? Buying more foreign cars specifically? Buying from their company specifically? Simply driving more? More inclined to like the manufacturer's country of origin? American vs. overseas factories relevant? |

Relevant where the foreign manufacturers are located? no Are both team names relevant? Just the winner? Just the loser? The name (i.e. nickname) of the winner, and the city name of the loser are all that is relevant. It does not matter where the winner is, or what the loser's nickname is. Does the company think that people will be buying more cars? see next answer Buying more foreign cars specifically? yes Buying from their company specifically? no Simply driving more? no </b.> no American vs. overseas factories relevant? can you elaborate? |

Is the winner's name also the name of a car? Is the loser's city also the name of a car? Would the people buying more cars be people watching the game? People sympathetic to the winning team? People sympathetic to the losing team? Would they lose trust in American-made cars? Did something unusual happen at the game? |

I said the foreign car manufacturers believed that to be the case. |

Was the headline "X beats Detroit" or something like that, where X was the nickname of the winning team? Did X also have anything in particular to do with cars? Was X a make? or model? of a car? Foreign or American car? Or something else that has an association with case? |

Is the winning team the Denver Broncos? Is O J Simpson relevant in any way (wasn't it a bronco he was driving during that infamous chase?) I can't think of any other team that's nickname refers to a car! Did the game go to Overtime? Was the headline something like Overtime ! Broncos get better of Detroit? |

"Giants Trample Detroit" "Jets Obliterate Detroit" YES, you got it "Chiefs Shut Down Detroit ***SPOILER**** The headline said "Jets Obliterate Detroit" or something to that effect, and the foreign car makers thought Detroit was destroyed, and as such so were the American auto companies, and consequently were happy because they thought they would sell more cars without competition. Thanks to everyone who participated and please check out my other two puzzles. |
