Without wishing to sound overly cynical, this resonates with almost any political/religious/philosophical governing body and its adherents. Are we dealing with: A concept? An event? A situation? Is there a particular location involved? A particular group (or groups) involved? |

Does blind refer to those who literally cannot see? Or are they blind to something in particular? Does dumb refer to people unable to speak? Refusing to speak? Unintelligent? Are there any people involved who are not in the groups "blind" or "dumb"? Everyone involved human? Adult? Gender relevant? |

Is this a specific event that has been in the news recently? Is the situation ongoing? Is there a specific number of people in the blind group? or does the puzzle refer to blind people generally? Any politics involved? Sports? film? Music? Oh and I'll throw in the relevance of Bridge and Weightless poetry in a pathetic display of kissing up. |

Music? none of these Oh and I'll throw in the relevance of Bridge and Weightless poetry in a pathetic display of kissing up. a splendid notion. Neither bridge nor weightless poetry is relevant to this puzzle, however. |

Does this have to do with the recent decision by the Supreme Court about U.S. money needing to be more Blind friendly? |

Does this have to do with the recent decision by the Supreme Court about U.S. money needing to be more Blind friendly? absolutely - well done ***** SPOILER ***** The currency of the United States of America is the only thing in that great nation more ridiculous than the electoral system. Certain recent developments have ensured that at least the banknotes are not all exactly the same colour, but they are all very nearly the same colour and exactly the same size. Whereas for sighted people this is a minor inconvenience, for the blind and the partially-sighted it is a major obstacle. Now, a federal court has ruled that the currency is discriminatory. Unfortunately, there are no moves as yet to replace the absurd $1 bill by a $1 coin on a nationwide scale, nor to introduce a coin worth 50 cents, but it is to be hoped that - unlike those unfortunate people against whom it has discriminated for so long - the United States Treasury will soon see the light. Well done Dlcygnet, and well done Judge James Robertson. |

Just to point out, Woubit, the US does have a 50-cent coin - it's just in limited circulation, like the dollar coin. |

During my youthful Bank Teller days i once gave a customer 20 $50 bills instead of $20s. When i contacted him about it he tried to deny it until my manager in a stroke of genius informed him that it was illegal to import that many $50 bills into the states (that was a complete lie) . The guy saw the light then and returned the extra $600. Whenever our Foreign Exchange till was unbalanced we would always check all dollar transactions first as 99% of the time the error had occurred there. |

Yep. They should also require that the amount of a check be directly proportional with its value. Also, for those who do not speak English, they should print currency in different languages. The United States doesn't have an official language, so what right do they have to print currency all in one language? And what about these darned coins? They are so small you can hardly read the inscriptions! I'm sure not everyone knows that a dime is worth ten cents, so they should make them at least a half-foot across or at least have the inscription high-contrast and large enough that I can read it from my seat, rather than having to walk all the way to the desk. But I suppose the U.S. has a habit of trying to accommodate the majority, and nobody cares about the minority. |
