Annetta: H? A? F? Is she pretending to just one person? a group of people? the public in general? is she famous? Race-related? nationality? class? religion? sexuality? gender? other? Is she pretending to be a bigot to prove a point? to gain an advantage? if so, is it a tangible one? |

Are the people she is pretending to also bigots? Are they members of the group she is pretending to be prejudiced against? For her to gain this advantage, would they need to agree with her? To disagree? To think less of her? Does she intend to tell them at any point that she is not a bigot? Does she show them her supposed bigotry by simply telling them? By hinting? By behaving in a certain way towards people? Is one specific bigoted action relevant? Does her supposed bigotry serve as an excuse for her to do something? |

This group of people she is pretending to: are they her friends? family? strangers? colleagues? teachers? nodding acquaintances? Does she communicate her "bigotry" to them face to face? in writing? on the phone? Is she applying for something? For instance, a college room to stay in? Is it job-related? Has she been relocated to another place, and she is trying to get her employers to change their minds? |

Is her bigotry performed... someplace specific? in school? college? at work? at home? at a government office? at a store? at a restaurant? a set? a stage? The bigotry performed for a group of strangers... customers? students? passers-by? watchers? patrons? audience? stage audience? Does she hope that the people around her... share similar feelings of bigotry? become appalled by her behavior? will ostracise her? will attack her? will speed up relevant activities happening around her so she will leave sooner? |

Puzzzle regulars may recall an earlier puzzle of mine that hinged on the fact that I wanted to be called for jury duty but never have been. By the way, I realized (too late!) that I could have improved the present puzzle by complicating it, e.g., "Annetta's devotion to her musical career led her to pretend to be a racist" when the jury duty she was trying to avoid would use up time she needed to prepare for a previously scheduled recita;l. Oh, well, please check out my new (harder??) puzzle at the bottom of the page. |
