Vivi finally got her dream job. On her first day, she went up to her office, but she stopped before entering her cabin. She stood there for a few seconds with a look of utter disbelief on her face, then walked to a nearby phone. She called up Paul and said, "They did it again!" |

You said "cabin." Does that have to do with a cabin of a plane? A cabin in the woods? |

Does her issue have to do with whether she has a door at all? Her name... on the door? On the wall? Did they put her name up at all? Did they mispell her name? Abreviate it inappropriately somehow? Include her middle name and made it sound odd? Pornstar name relevant? Is she claustrophobic and doesn't like an enclosed office? Does she need quiet to do her work and thus would rather have an enclosed office? Is her door see-through (glass), thus she can't change clothes in her office (to go to the gym or when coming back from some activity)? |

We just have a height chart on the inside wall by our shop door (we used to have a Post Office as well before it was chopped away) - it was issued by the local police for that purpose (judging the height of people running away). The local kids use it to check their height. |

Accountant? Something extremely derogatory? Other synonym for officer? None of these, actually it didn't refer to her at all! "Top Money Whore"? Financial affairs is everywhere long. YES! Unless you are a linguist, I assume you are good at googling. *******SPOILER******** Chinglish is a portmanteau of the words Chinese and English and refers to spoken or written English which is influenced by Chinese. "Financial Affairs is Everywhere Long" - that's what Vivi's job title said. The word Chief Financial Officer in Chinese should be separated as "Financial Office" + "Officer of", but it could also literally be separated as "Financial Affairs" + "Everywhere" + "Long", thus the confusion. This is most likely a product of machine translation, for no Chinese person would understand the word in such a way. At Vivi's previous job, which was in a dry goods pricing department, her english visiting card said something too cheeky for me to mention in LTPF - I'll let you guys check that one out yourselves. Thanks for playing along! |

Aaah ok :-) well done! PS: The emoticon on the title is just a sorta annoyed expression with three fingers pointing up near the face to denote sweat dripping down one's face. This is pretty popular in East Asia. Some of my chinese friends use this Chinglish expression a lot when they chat online and are exasperated about something : " =.=||| I no words." |
