He thought it was annoying. She didn't see how. He explained, and she agreed.

Annoying for him? Her? Anyone else?

The reason she did not see how: their different personal preferences? cultural differences? other?

Albatrosses relevant? No to this obligatory question.

Annoying for him? This one. Her? Anyone else?

The reason she did not see how: their different personal preferences? cultural differences? other? This one.

Perceptions relevant? Age relevant?

All I can't think of right now is that annoying mosquito ring tone. Some people can hear it, but others can't. For people like us who can hear it, it's extremely annoying.

Gender relevant?

So it was annoying for him because he was a man? And wasn't for her, as she was a woman?

A swift kick in the pants?

A swift kick in the pants? But not this. Besides, I'd think being kicked would be annoying, at least, to everyone.

Was it annoying because it could be seen? Heard? Tasted? Felt? Smelled? Otherwise perceived? It can, at the least, be seen and felt, but none of these are, per se, why it's annoying.

Does it have anything to do with clothing? No..

Answer to "an object that a person typically possesses" should really be: Yesish, for sufficiently vague values of "object."

Does the same "object" belong to both of them?

If I wanted to describe the "annoyance" more closely, would he be ashamed? Embarrassed? Other?

Is the gist of it something like that:

She has an object A, he has an object B?
She does something with her object A which she finds perfectly normal/neutral? He finds annoying that she does it? Or would he find annoying if he did it with his object B?

Do objects A and B ever interact (such as magnets, mobile phones etc.)?

Is the gist of it something like that:

She has an object A, he has an object B? This is true, but may not be that helpful, and could lead to FAs.

Having to make the hair look nice?

Does the long hair get in the way of cuddling?

Does this have anything to do with a real life experience?

People's judgements on men and women with long hair?

Is it having a beard or stubble? mustache? shaving? Bingo!

*****SPOILER*****
He mentioned that even though he liked his newly long hair, he found it annoying. She didn't understand how at first, but it made sense to her once he explained that the hair tended to get in the way of shaving.

As someone who has recently grown my hair long for the first time, this is definitely based on personal experience.
