Are the occupations of either the man or stranger relevant? Was the food taken away because the man was not allowed to have food with him? Something might be wrong with the food? (eg.poisoned?) |

O.k so its partly chocolate. Is it made in a bakery or a factory? Chocolate ice cream? Choc chip cookies? Chocolate doughnuts? Which is closest? The strangers reason is obviously very important. Was it a reasonable reason? A strange reason? Did the man get get anything in return for giving to the stranger? So this man buys his food and walks out of the store then the stranger comes up to him and tells him to give him his chocolate something and he unhappily gives it to him without arguing? Is the basic idea correct? |

giving Were they making a commercial? In hindsight, would the man think he made the right decision about giving the food? Is the reason he didn't want to give the food: he wanted it for himself? he wanted to give it to someone else than the stranger? because he paid for it? Would he go back to buy a new one? stranger Was the stranger an employee of the store? Did the food have to be scanned again? Was it considered normal behavior for the stranger to ask for the food? Did the stranger need the food? Could the stranger have bought the food himself? Would an assertive man have given the food? food Is the food Angel Kisses? Was the food expensive? Does the food contain: foamy stuff nuts caramel air pockets Does the chocolate coating contain anything else than chocolate (I mean besides preservatives etc.)? The size of the food: pie size bigger than candy bar but smaller than a pie candy bar size smaller than candy bar size Is the exact nature of the food relevant? |

Would it only work with a stranger? Or could it also be a friend? It could be a friend... Is it American candy? I started wondering about this after I posted the puzzle. I'm pretty sure that the company that makes it is international, but I don't really know if this particular candy is sold in the UK. Which admittedly makes it less fun for you, and I apologize, although there are probably a few other candy brands that could work. |

Does the name of the candy refer to or resemble: share? give? donate? request? ask? take? having enough to go around? pass out? distribute? any words referring to a person? OH WAIT! IS it Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? I've always heard it pronounced "Reesies" and never really paid attention to how it's spelled. I looked, since neither "Reeses" or "Reesies" looked right to me, and lo and behold, it's "Reese's." Is the stranger's name Reese, by any chance? |

And that's it! *********************SPOILER************************ I don't know if you know Mitch Hedberg, but one of my favorite bits of his is about Reese's. "I get the Reese's candy bar, If you read it, there's an apostrophe. The candy bar is his. I didn't know that. Next time your eating a Reese's and some guy named Reese comes up to you and says let me have that. You better give it to him. I'm sorry Reese, I didn't think I would ever run into you. You're a f***ing bully, man! At least let me have a piece!” Great job cracking it, Noel, and thanks to everyone who participated. |
