Was the scrund that Halley's Comet was spelt with one "l" like "Haley"? Or that it should be pronounced "Hail-ey", to rhyme with daily? |

Was the scrund that Halley's Comet was spelt with one "l" like "Haley"? Or that it should be pronounced "Hail-ey", to rhyme with daily? This. Halley is properly pronounced to rhyme with "valley," though Halley himself is thought to have pronounced it to rhyme with "Molly." The alternate pronunciation of "Hailey" was around before Bill Haley's time, but his inspiration to use it as the name of his band spread it throughout the United States, and it is still the most common version today. |
