Did the ships sail there in order to participate in the rush? Or was gold discovered while they lay there? So the 600 ships were simply all the ships that were at port at the time? Was it the Yukon gold rush? | ||

* * * SPOILER * * * Galfisk and Peter, This happened during the great California Gold Rush 1849 - 1851. Gold fever ran so high that when ships docked in San Francisco harbour the crews jumped ship in order to try to make their fortunes as gold prospectors. Some 600 ships were stranded without crews. Some were used as floating hotels. |
