Fifty years ago, most middle-class American adults had an ability that now a much smaller proportion of them do. It is not an ability that technology has made obsolete. What is it?? |

Exercise relevant? Hobbies? Hiring specialists to do jobs one would be expected to know how to do? Did mostly men have this ability? Women? Even split? |

Is one specific hobby relevant? A certain group of hobbies? Or hobbies in general? Is the hobby something you usually do alone? Or in a group? Is crafting/ tinkering/ needlework involved? Reading/ writing? Art/ music? Games? Cooking? Any kind of non-excercise physical activity? Going out/ meeting friends/ partying? |

Music? You said "yesish" to reading... Assuming you mean music, does it have to do with dancing? |

That's why I said yesish, but it's not the "lost ability" in the puzzle. I don't know whether the ability to read music is rarer than it used to be. |

Sorry this puzzle was so easy, but please go to the bottom of the page for my new one, which won't be--I hope. |

Nice puzzle! We used to have a piano in our house, but sold it a few years ago. I used to play piano, but don't anymore. |

We had a piano when I was a child & my mother still has it. Like you, I used to play the piano but no longer do. |
