Since Balin agreed with my suggestion to make puzzles about "theories" I heard on the radio, here's the first one: What is the First Law of Theater Attendance? Note, these were written to be guessed by people in a few minutes, so probably will be a quick puzzle, but I have more of them. |

"Silence is golden"?No, I don't think there's any other expression that means the same as this "law". |

Theater as in actors on a stage? Or movie theater? Is the First Law of Theater Attendance not to speak about the Theater Attendance? Does the law pertain to: audiences? Actors? Individuals in the audience? Relevant: Queuing? Buying a ticket? Entering? Sitting down? Watching the performance? Applauding (or booing)? Leaving? Going alone? Or in the company of others? Is the law an observation? Or a rule to be followed? |

Is talking relevant? Refreshments? Number of people in attendance? "Don't talk during the show"? |

Specific sections of the theater relevant? Rows? Cup holders relevant? I think Peter was thinking of "Don't mention the name of the Scottish play out loud." |

Anything about the physical appearance of the theatre that is relevant?Yes, though see below... like how the seats are arranged?Yes or how many seats there are?Yope Specific sections of the theater relevant?Noish Rows?Rows are the relevant thing about how the seats are arranged. As I've never been to a theater that didn't have its seats in rows, however, I probably could have said Irr. to the questions above just as well. Cup holders relevant? No I think Peter was thinking of "Don't mention the name of the Scottish play out loud." |

No tall people in the front row? Something about being behind a tall person (which always seems to be a problem with me, being quite short)? |

Is a certain row relevant? Certain rows? Rows in the front? The middle? The back? The front row in most theaters is "exempt", and possibly the front row of each section if there are multiple sections. It applies to all others, though. |

Don't put your feet on the backs of the chairs in front of you? Especially if there are people sitting in them? |

Don't put your feet on the backs of the chairs in front of you? Especially if there are people sitting in them? No, maybe I should have said "an exception" rather than "exempt". Note above that the "law" is a description of an observation, in the sense of the laws of physics (but in a joking sense), not a rule to be followed. |

Does it have to do with passing by people already sitting? Do people who most often need to go to the toilet during the performance seat themselves as to cause maximum inconvenience for the others when they leave? Or something like this? |

Does it have to do with passing by people already sitting?YES Do people who most often need to go to the toilet during the performance seat themselves as to cause maximum inconvenience for the others when they leave?Toilet usage (as well as popcorn-procurement) is irrelevant. Or something like this? It's related, in that it involves inconvenience and where people seat themselves |

Is it that people arriving early seat themselves near the aisles, meaning people arriving later all need to pass by them to get to the remaining seats? If not, is it related to the way/order seats are filled? |
