There is something that I enjoy doing. However, some evenings when I do it, I experience a mixture of surprise, regret, and sometimes even mild panic. What is it? |

CORRECTION: "surprise" in the puzzle statement might be better if replaced with "confusion" |

Solving lateral thinking puzzles? If not that, is the action done solo? With one other person? In a group? Can the action be done by children? By blind people? Deaf people? Paraplegics? Quadraplegics? Does the action involve speaking? Using the hands? Moving around? Does it require a prop? A computer? Can it only be done in the evening? Or at all times of day? |

Solving lateral thinking puzzles? yes (and I expected that part to go fast, but not THAT fast!) so the rest of your questions are either irrelevant or obvious. |

Surprise...at the solutions to some of the puzzles? Or when wild guesses turn out to be correct? Confusion: when you're stuck on a tough puzzle? Regret: when you can't figure out a solution that should be obvious? Or when someone else figures out an answer that you were dancing around, and was really obvious, but you never hit on it? Panic: when you're totally stuck? |

And to clarify: by saying yes to the question about solving puzzles, I meant any time during the entire act of solving a puzzle from puzzle statement to completion, not necessarily the exact moment of finding a solution (although that is included, too) |

Are you worried you will miss something important? sometimes Not get enough sleep? no I think you guys have enough info to put together the confused and the sometimes-panicked feelings now. The regret is tougher, so I'll give a hint. The source of regret is not any one particular action or goal. It's a more general sort of regret that many people experience (but some types more than others). |

You enjoy puzzling on the LTPF. However, in the evenings, due to the time zone differences, by looking at the day / hour that appears in the posts, you seem confused and sometimes mildly panicked, noticing for a second that it is already tomorrow. That passes however, and you feel a sentiment of regret (or melancholy?): another day passed in an instant and is tomorrow even before finishing being today. Something along these lines or there's more to it? |

You enjoy puzzling on the LTPF. However, in the evenings, due to the time zone differences, by looking at the day / hour that appears in the posts, you seem confused and sometimes mildly panicked, noticing for a second that it is already tomorrow. That passes however, and you feel a sentiment of regret (or melancholy?): another day passed in an instant and is tomorrow even before finishing being today. Something along these lines or there's more to it? no, that's pretty much it. See below. ***SPOILER*** I live in the Eastern Standard time zone, while LTPF times are listed as GMT. Often, when I check LTPF in the evening, I am quite confused for a moment to see that it is a day later than I had thought it was. If I have something important that should have been done before that later day, I occasionally panic. However, more often I simply take the fact that it appears to be a day later than I expected as yet another sign that time is flying past at what seems to be an ever increasing rate. These feelings only last a moment, though, before I realize what time it is and put an end to my confusion. It amuses me to no end that I still experience this trio of emotions on a regular basis when visiting LTPF. You would think I would be numb to it by now. Oh well, it is what it is. =) Thanks to all who participated. It felt good to host a puzzle again. It has been a while. |

No, I just look at a puzzle and see that the maker replied at (for instance now) "8:48 PM" and think oh, they replied a minute ago, so I'll post some more questions now, then realize it was 5 hours and one minute ago and I probably already saw what they posted! |
