One morning Frank's boss called him into his office. He said, "Yesterday you lost something, you broke something and you stole something." Then he said, "Here is your final pay, I never want to see you again." Both Frank and his, now former, boss were very happy.

So, ignoring the million grammatical errors this probably introduces, probable recap by rewriting puzzle statement, thusly: One morning Frank's boss, Ernest, called him into his office. Ernest said, "Yesterday Frank lost something, Frank broke something and Frank stole something." Then Ernest said, "Here is Frank's final pay, Ernest never want to see Frank again." Both Frank and his, now former, boss, Ernest, were very happy.

Right?

He lost:

something tangible?
a race?
a contract?
his virginity?
his job somewhere else?

He broke:

something tangible?
a record?
a leg?
someone's heart?

He stole:

something tangible?
something belonging to his employer?
someone's heart?

Is Ernest a criminal of some sort?

Is Ernest happy merely because he has dismissed Frank? Was Frank expecting to be called in?

Was Frank the CEO for some big corporation? And he cheated, and so they fired him but he got a $50 million buyout? So he was happy because he now had $50 million and didn't even have to work for it?

******* SPOLIER *******

Frank was a corporate spy. He lost a tail put on him, broke the security of a rival company and stole corporate secrets. Frank was happy because he was well paid. His former boss was happy to have the rival company's secrets and for Frank's discretion.
