He = H/A/M, yes. Them = H/T/M, number indeterminate and therefore, irrelevant. |

Fail: a test? A game? A task? A class? Life in general? Is he a teacher? If so, relevant what subject he teaches? Is he doing it intentionally? Is he supposed to do that? |

Fail: a test? A game? This A task? A class? Life in general? Is he a teacher? Sort of. If so, relevant what subject he teaches? For svv of subject. Is he doing it intentionally? Either that, or he's just that stupid... Is he supposed to do that? DYOD of supposed to...I doubt the school wants him to, at least. By the way, this puzzle is FMOI, suspicions based on something I've noticed in real life. |

College basketball? Jim Calhoun? John Calipari? (Side note: A UK fan told me that we (Uconn basketball) were cheaters because of the impermissible text messages between Coach Calhoun and some recruits. I replied "at least our players were literate enough to send texts!" Then again, Kentucky basketball players must be pretty smart. They never go to class and yet they get straight A's. I wish I could do that. Ok, end rant.) Some other academically cheating coach? Can we call him Coach Cal? (Since that could apply Calhoun or Calipari) |

Can we call him Coach Cal? (Since that could apply Calhoun or Calipari)Even though those aren't the right coaches, you may as well call him that. I've got no idea what his name is. |

Did Coach Cal cheat in any way? Tell his players to cheat? So they'd win but then get disqualified? Has he been paid to "fix" the contest (like the Black Sox in 1919 World Series?) Point shaving? Something similar? Does he coach baseball? Football? Ice hockey? Soccer? Track and field? Some other sport? At a varsity level? Junior varisty? Intramural? Something lower? Does he coach high schoolers? Middle schoolers? Elementary schoolers? Preschoolers? |

Sorry Balin!!!Football? Is he the Bulldogs coach (re: "Big Bone")? He is, indeed!! But that's not all there is to this... Gregoryuconn: Did Coach Cal cheat in any way? Tell his players to cheat? So they'd win but then get disqualified? On the contrary... Has he been paid to "fix" the contest (like the Black Sox in 1919 World Series?) Point shaving? Something similar? I do not know what point shaving is, but whether he's been paid or not, in this scenario he is indeed "fixing" the game, in a way... Does he coach baseball? Football? This Ice hockey? Soccer? Track and field? Some other sport? At a varsity level? This Junior varisty? And this Intramural? Something lower? Does he coach high schoolers? This! Middle schoolers? Elementary schoolers? Preschoolers? |

Point shaving is when you are often paid or coerced (like by gamblers) to score less points so that the gamblers can make money on the spread. Sometimes this makes you lose, and at the very least you'd win by less. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_shaving Anyway, so does he refuse to pay his top starters in the Big Game against your school? Or in the game before, so they'll be rested for that game? |

Ah, I see. No, in my scenario they're not playing well because he's *teaching* them not to play well. They're failures to begin with. So the question then is...why is he setting up his players to lose? Take the title into account...(but also remember that I have no idea if this is really the case, LOL) |

A Lions player? A Lions coach? Former player? This, but... Former coach? A Lions alumni? THIS!!!!!! Yay, Balin! ***SPOILER*** For the past 11 years straight (and for many other games before that, dating back to the original Big Bone Game) the Lions of Abraham Lincoln High School in San Jose have soundly thrashed the San Jose High Academy's Bulldogs in our annual Thanksgiving game, the Big Bone. The Little Bone, for JV, takes place between the rival schools the Thursday preceding, and I'm pretty sure Lincoln's kept a hold on that trophy, too, though the Big Bone is more famous. So my question is...why? WHY are we that good and why does SJHA lose so much? My father's a conspiracy theorist, and I suppose I've inherited some of his tendencies (they make for good lateral puzzling, anyhow) so I said to myself, what if it's not a coincidence? What if SJHA's coach was a Lion? Once a Lion from Lincoln, always a Lion from Lincoln, after all...(apologies to CS Lewis)... GO LIONS!!!!! |
