Happy Friday everyone. No doubt this will be a quickie. Many people are "Scrubes" but my brother's dogs belong to an elite subset of Scrubes known as "Uber Scrubes". What on earth is a scrube? and what makes a scrube an Uber Scrube? |

Can humans be Scrubes? Uber Scrubes? If so, only adults? Males? Females? Children? Are all dogs Scrubes? Uber Scrubes? Can any other animal be Scrube? Uber Scrube? Can an innanimate being be one of those? Is your brother a Scrube? Uber Scrube? Does it relate to eating habits? If one is a Scrube, is it likely that people will think more of him? Less? How about if one is a Uber Scrube? |

Can humans be Scrubes? Yes Uber Scrubes? No i'm reliably informed If so, only adults? Males? Females? Children? All humans can be Scrubes but none can be Uber Scrubes Are all dogs Scrubes? No Uber Scrubes? No Can any other animal be Scrube? Yes Uber Scrube? yes Can an innanimate being be one of those? For the sake of this puzzle we'll say no to that Is your brother a Scrube? No Uber Scrube? No Does it relate to eating habits? No If one is a Scrube, is it likely that people will think more of him? Less? It wouldn't have any bearing on people's opinion of you How about if one is a Uber Scrube? Same as above |

You you have to be born a Scrube or an Uber Scrube respectively? Does it have anything to do with your senses? Smelling? Hearing? Or can one become a Scrube by practising? Anything to do with intelligence or special ways of thinking? Or with being able to run fast? Or being sneaky? Dexterous? Loud? Does it have anything to do with a special liking for or dislike of something? An activity? Food? Music? TV show or movie? Listening or not listening to others relevant? |

Straight to an Uber Scrube without passing Scrube? Are the sounds that dogs make related to being a Scrube? An Uber Scrube? Ditto for other noises made by animals? |

No you're either one or the other Straight to an Uber Scrube without passing Scrube? Yes Are the sounds that dogs make related to being a Scrube? An Uber Scrube? Ditto for other noises made by animals? no nothing to do with sounds Before this gets solved, I just have to make a joke about Scrube-y Dooby Doo, Where Are You? Bonus points for spotting the inspiration for the word scrube. Is "scrubeing" an activity of some sort? noability? No And those doing that activity / having that ability are Scrubes, while those doing very well / having the ability to a high degree are Uber Scrubes? So no to this Is it relevant that they are called Uber Scrubes as opposed to Ultra Scrubes, for example? No I just liked the sound of Uber Scrubes. It's actually surprisingly hard to make up words for Neologistic puzzles. Most of the ones i think of have some dirty meaning in the Urban Dictionary Methinks it's time for a little hint. To be a scrube or an Uber Scrube something has happened to you with a subtle difference in the case of Uber Scrubes. It's nothing bad or negative and can be pretty cool actually. |

The thing that must happen to you, does it only have to happen once and you're a Scrube / an Uber Scrube for the rest of your life? It only has to happen once to be a srube but I'm not sure if will last for the rest of your life. I'm reasonably sure an event will happen in the future that could take away your Scrube status Or will you stop being a Scrube / an Uber Scrube if it doesn't happen to you in a longer time afterwards? No something specific would have to happen to end your time as a scrube Is any change of outward appearance involved? No |

We should put together a dictionary of Neologistics from the LTPF I second that motion! And I just searched "scrund" on UD - not defined. Googling "scrund" only results in the LTPF, a band on MySpace called "The Scrund", and combinations of SCR-und or similar things. Is food relevant to being a Scrube? An Uber Scrube? Is Scooby-Doo relevant (other than being the inspiration for the word)? Are any other people related to being a Scrube? An Uber Scrube? Are any other dogs related? |

It's nothing bad or negative and can be pretty cool actually. Can being a Scrube / Uber Scrube be cool? Or is the thing that can be cool the event that makes one a Scrube / Uber Scrube? Is becoming a Scrube / Uber Scrube a long-time process? Or can it happen instantly? If people are involved, does it have to do with a special kind of training? With helping someone in some way? With rescuing someone? With playing with someone? With doing some kind of trick? With being a special connection with those people? Are doctors involved? |

So... One is a Scrube if his or her picture is on Google Street View on Google maps; however, for humans, the picture will be blurred for privacy concerns. One is an Uber Scrube if the picture is not blurred; since only the pictures of animals are not blurred, only animals will be Uber Scrubes. Side note: This puzzle fell under the Quickie Paradox - if a host declares the puzzle to be a likely quickie, it probably will not be. |

One is an Uber Scrube if the picture is not blurred; since only the pictures of animals are not blurred, only animals will be Uber Scrubes. Absolutely perfect Side note: This puzzle fell under the Quickie Paradox - if a host declares the puzzle to be a likely quickie, it probably will not be. True ******************Spoiler************* Well done Balin A Scrube is someone who is captured on google's street map albeit with their face blurred out in accordance with Google's privacy policies. An Uber Scrube is an animal who appears but without their face being hidden. My brother has recently bought and old end of terrace house and is doing it up at present. His two dogs obviously curious as to what the google guy was up to leapt onto their kennel and were snapped in what I think makes for a very cute picture. The big problem here is that I can't seem to post a link to the picture . Does anyone know how to do this as each individual shot doesn't seem to have it's own URL. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. |

If you click the "Link" link (yes, I know that sounds redundant) above the map, then you will get a (VERY LONG) URL that contains both the geographic coordinates and the camera frame embedded. Of course, if you paste this here, everyone who browses the forum will know exactly where the picture was taken, so you don't want to do that if you fear cyber-stalkers. I don't know of a way to copy just the street view, separated from the rest of the map. It seems there may be copyright issues, because there are certain things one cannot do on Google Maps. For instance, when trying to print from satellite view, only the map outlines of the streets are printed, not the satellite image. |

Late to the party as usual. I like the fact that if you follow the arrows past the house you see another picture of them having turned their heads towards the camera as it drove past them. |
