Put them on fire...literally? Hard to answer. The poet was probably angry at the time, so I don't know. You can take this as an expletive. "On fire" idiomatically, as in "on a roll"? This is not the case, though |

Are they politicians? Kings? Lawyers? Hard to answer, and the poet is dead and cannot be asked ... might be all of the above. I would say politicians, and this is what was intended in this puzzle Remaining to be discovered: 1. Why the poet would put them on fire (easiest) 2. The relevance of the title 3. Why two bands? The poet is of no significance unless you know the exact verses from one of his poems

I don't know Is anyone thaught to be a vampire? Yes! Is them 2 people? no, there were -- and are -- more than 2, splitted in two bands Is a newsworthy event relevant? No A scandal? No Is this from an editorial? No To clear #1 above, the poet was angry -- presumably -- because of the actions of some guys. We are not interested to find reasons for his anger or who the the guys were, but only what were the two bands and why a vampire might be involved |

Were the two bands part of a political party? They were, if I remember correctly. However what that party was is irrelevant to this puzzle Two parties? Short RECAP and maybe some small hints: One poet emphasizes in some verses his enmity towards the members of a certain political party: "Split them in two bands! Then put both of the two bands on fire!" he exclaims (not in these exact words, but close enough). In his imprecation (which spans four verses, two of which are referenced but not exactly quoted in the puzzle statement), a yopish vampire is involved

Yope to a real one, no comparison however Invocation to a yopish vampire: is the vampire supposed to divide the politicians into two bands and throw both to the fire? Exactly and precisely so! Well done! The fire is supposed only to destroy? Maybe also purify or any other reason? The thing that real person and vampire have in common is: name? position? abilities? skills? views on politicians/rulers? location? (I remember that physical look was excluded earlier, correct?) Is the poem entirely about vampire with this only few lines refering to politicians? Or maybe it's entirely about politicians with only that one invocation to a yopish vampire? Witch hunting relevant? I guess that finding the famous vampire the poet refers to would help... I think Dracula is too obvious? The vampire is known from: legends? books? film? comics? fairy tales? (I mean what is the original source, films based on books shouldn't count). Any reference to hell? Fires of hell? Doomsday? |

Fires of hell? Doomsday? hmm, Vlad Dracul, "Vlad the Impaler", was the inspiration for Dracula. Relevant? And the answer too ******* SPOILER ******* In one of his poems, the Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu , after comparing the good behavior of ancestors to our daily politics, ends up with verses that might be roughly translated as: "Why don't you come, the Impaler Lord To grab them all, and divide them in two bands -- fools and cheaters Put them into two appropriate places Then set on fire both the prison -- and the sanatorium." Thanks to Marta and to Liz for the solve, apologies to Eminescu for the translation and a nice sleep to the Impaler because he would have a lot of work to do, should he be alive once more. |
