A man is lying dead in the desert, alone. He is clutching a match. What happened? NOT the classic - no airplanes/hot air balloons/etc. are involved. |

Did he die of natural causes? Was he killed? Did he commit suicide? Is it relevant what desert it was? If so, [LTPF list of deserts], please. Is it relevant when it happened? Is he naked? Does he have anything on him except for the match? Is the match broken? used? May we call him Ben? |

Could it have been a cornfield instead of a desert? An island in a lake? A mall parking lot? My backyard? Is it important how he got there? Did he try to light something in order to protect himself? Did he actually light something? If yes, is this thing still there? |

The thing that he lit - did it burn down so that it's not there anymore? Was one match enough to set it on fire? Was it something animate? inanimate? Something that he had brought there? Something he found there? Something he wanted to destroy? Is there something desert-specific that we have to find out (since the whole scenario wouldn't work somewhere else)? Does it have to do with plants? animals? the soil? |

Was he killed by a cactus? Would it be helpful to find out what kind of object he brought there? If so, [LTPF list of materials] please. Did he bring one single object? Is his occupation/job relevant? |

Was he killed by a cactus? Yes! Would it be helpful to find out what kind of object he brought there? Yes If so, [LTPF list of materials] please. Answering this might give it away, so I cannot do so. Did he bring one single object? Well, he brought the match, matchbox, and this other object. Is his occupation/job relevant? No |

an explosive? as an answer to both questions? Yep, and that's the last of it. **********SPOILER********** The man decided to have some fun and blow up a cactus. He brought a match, matchbox, and homemade explosive to the desert with him, lit the fuse, and tossed the explosive at the base of a cactus. Unfortunately for him, the explosion caused the cactus to topple and crush him to death; thus, he died still holding the (burnt) match. Nice solve again, Kaylee. Points also go to Doriana for some good questions. |
