Or rather that an action should not be performed? Did she ask something relating to her (for example how the burial ceremony should be conducted?) She asked me to obey my mom quite a lot, but that wasn't what she said to me on her deathbed. In fact... Did she ask for an action to be performed? Relevant the disease your mom has? It's not particularly relevant; she has bronchitis, which might be edging its way toward pneumonia. Did she ask you to protect her from getting sick? No...you're being too specific Did your mom have this disease in the past? Bronchitis? Possibly. But Grandma didn't say anything specifically about it, as my mom wasn't sick at the time. (It's also irrelevant what Grandma died of; I'll just tell you it was cancer, before anyone asks.) | ||

Hmmm, I was getting OTWT... Did your grandmother asked you to take care of her (your mother), generally? Did you find the task difficult at that very moment or only after your mother got sick? Is sickness a relevant element or her wish was more general (take care that nothing wrong affects your mom)? Did you think (then? now?) that something too big is requested from you? something that you cannot handle? | ||

Did you find the task difficult at that very moment or only after your mother got sick? Both, but it's harder whenever my mom is sick. Is sickness a relevant element or her wish was more general (take care that nothing wrong affects your mom)? It was general, as I understood it: "Take care of your mother" is all that was said. Did you think (then? now?) that something too big is requested from you? Yes. You haven't met my mother. *snicker* something that you cannot handle? Pretty much, yeah. So... ***SPOILER*** On December 15, 2006, my Grandma Phyllis passed away. The night of December 14 was the last time I saw her, lying in her bed, barely able to talk. The last coherent thing she said to me was "Take care of your mother." My mother is difficult for me to get along with, never mind take care of, lol! I do my best, but it's hard...when she gets sick is the only time I can really manage to do it "right". | ||

Huh, I seem to have contradicted myself. It's harder to "take care of" my mom whenever she's sick, because she resists all my efforts to do it...but it's also easier, because then is the only time I actually have a clear idea of *how* to "take care of" her. My mom is an independent woman, after all, and doesn't really *need* me to take care of her. Except when she does...lol. | ||

Well, the right thing to do is say to her: "Mom, you're sick. I'm in charge now. Go to bed!" I did say that...and when she ignored me and went to work anyway, I called her supervisors and told them Mom had bronchitis, and she came home telling me that they both said, "Linda, go home, go to bed, and we'll find someone else to close tonight, we don't want to see you until Monday." My response? "I like your supervisors. And I told you so." For added fun, try this when she is perfectly healthy! :-) I can try. Nice puzzle. Happened to all of us, too :-) Thanks Rbruma!
