Many people can ychythw (pronounced "icky-thoo"), but I only know of one person (a HAM) who is well-known for it. I have ychythwed a few times, but only once in front of people.

What does it mean to ychythw?

is it something anyone can do or does it take a lot of practice? do you need to be taught how to do it? can you get books on how to do it?

do you need any special equipment to do it?

is it something that people pay to watch? is it more important to hear it?

would we want to see/hear you do it?

can you do it on your own? do you need a partner or group of people?

The person who's well known for doing it, it's not an LTPF member is it?

Failing that a politician? musician? actor? other performer? sportsman? writer? otherwise associated with the arts? other famous person?

Would getting seen ychythwing cause one embarassment? or would people tend to admire you for being able to do it?

In an attempt to help this along, I will say that the title is, as is most often, relevant. And that all forms of Internet usage, including Googlepedia but especially YouTube, are perfectly legal.

I shall also RECAP that the person most well-known for ychythwing (which, BTW, I have now done thrice in front people) is a British comedian ("comic actor" might be better, but either term could work) born in the '70s who is mainly known for doing this type of dance.

Hugh Grant in Love Actually? No - I've never seen that.

HINT because this is going slowly: The person has recently ychythwed several times on a British television show.

rowan atkinson? No

do the Ys in ychythw stand for you or your? Yes ("you" for both) - the word is an acronym, but that will most likely not help you now.

i know, but I'm getting desperate

just to recap - this is a silly dance you do which you don't need any special equipment for, but you do use something other than your body?

is it a hat? a stick? any kind of clothing?

is it a hat? a stick? any kind of clothing? No to all.

HINT: The other thing used is music. The dance (which requires only your body) is to that music.

thanks for all the help!

could a woman do this dance? a disabled person? say, someone in a wheelchair? or with only one arm?

is the beat important? fast music? slow? 3/4 time? 4/4? one track in particular?

do you need to be quite agile? double-jointed?

do you essentially do this dance in a standing position?

thanks for all the help! You're welcome

could a woman do this dance? Yes a disabled person? Possibly say, someone in a wheelchair? I suppose they could or with only one arm? I suppose they could as well

is the beat important? fast music? slow? 3/4 time? 4/4? one track in particular? These aren't important - only one thing about the music is important (HINT: It's usually done with popular songs).

do you need to be quite agile? Not really double-jointed? No

do you essentially do this dance in a standing position? Usually

do you act out the lyrics? Yes, and I think I can call it here. sign language relevant?

**********SPOILER**********

To ychythw is to act out a song in humorous interpretive dance, a la David Armand. I've done this a few times, once at an open-mic night. It's fun.

The title is the opening lyrics to the song "Love is All Around," one of the songs Mr. Armand has ychythwed to.

And the word itself is an acronym of "you can't hear, you think he's weird," which I believe to be an accurate description of someone witnessing a person doing this.

Excellent work everyone, especially Shez for persevering through this one.

Sorry I gave up so early, I ran out of ideas.

But this is great! (: Reminds me of the "literal music videos" that basically work the other way round: Song lyrics are re-written to go with what is shown in the music video. The most famous example is probably this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovEDhFfgdOo
