John, being a sneaky rascal, figured out a way to deceive a lot of people out of money. Although he managed to execute his plan successfully, he was forced to stop after 11 days. |

He1=his=he2=John=HAM? Yes to all FOYI? FSEI? True story? FMOI, with some aspects of a true story involved Forced to stop...to avoid arrest? to avoid his victims? to avoid bankruptcy? None of these Are fathers relevant? birthdays? My dad's birthday is laterally relevant, however for reasons I can't explain without giving away too much, I won't allow the [LTPF List of Days] or even the [LTPF List of months] And no creeping on my dad's facebook. |

Did the plan stop working after 11 days? If he had started earlier, could he have kept it up for more than 11 days? Did he know beforehand that he would be forced to stop? If so, did he know it would be after 11 days? Did another person force him to stop? Was he discovered? Punished? Relevant? |

Getting the money from people: Are they giving it to him willingly? Is he stealing it? Borrowing it? Is it physical cash? Or money moving between accounts? Something a little less direct like using services they have paid for? Did they know about the money loss? Is he deceiving them as individuals? Or as a group? Say "costing the US taxpayers"? |

DOYD of "discovered", but not relevant Punished? Assume no Relevant? Not really Getting the money from people: Are they giving it to him willingly? DOYD of "willingly" Is he stealing it? DOYD of "stealing" Borrowing it? No Is it physical cash? Assume yes Or money moving between accounts? So assume no Something a little less direct like using services they have paid for? I don't know the English term for it, if there is one, but is the so-called "Enkeltrick" (="grandchild trick") relevant, i.e. a person tells his (possibly already somewhat demented) victim that he is their grandchild and has grave fincancial problems and he wants his victim to help him by giving him money? |

Does he tell people he needs money for something? Medical treatment? Does he pretend he works for some kind of (charity) organisation? Does he sell products that don't actually work (e.g. diet pills)? Is he face to face with the people he deceives? Or does he do it on the phone? Via internet? Was he forced to stop after 11 days by someone? something? something he couldn't control (like weather?)? |

Did the people give him money in exchange for something else? If so, something tangible? Would it have worked with 11 non-consecutive days? Do they give him money because they want to? Do they know they have been deceived? If so: immediately? After a certain time? After a certain event? after 11 days? Is he selling something that's not his to sell? Such as selling the Eiffel tower for scrap? |

Sort-ofish, but thinking this could lead to an FA Do they give him money because they want to? yes for svv of "want' Do they know they have been deceived? Yes If so: immediately? After a certain time? After a certain event? Not really sure how to answer this: by the time they actually hand over the money, they know they have been deceived. But by then it's too late. after 11 days? see above Is he selling something that's not his to sell? Such as selling the Eiffel tower for scrap? lol, no |

Is a holiday relevant? Leap years? February? Is culture relevant? No to all, except leap years are laterally relevant Or will it work anywhere in the world? There are a few places where one might encounter difficulty. But that's only because the date on the Gregorian Calendar is relevant and not all cultures use the Gregorian Calendar. Exploring this might be useful, though. |

No Or did something happen that year? I'm really not sure how to answer this the way it's phrased. I'm going to say no. Is this anything to do with the changeover from the Julian to Gregorian calendar in 1582 (and the loss of 10 days in October 1582)? (Every year between 4th and 15th October he could bet these suckers that nothing happened exactly [current year minus 1582] years ago) |

Is this anything to do with the changeover from the Julian to Gregorian calendar in 1582 (and the loss of 10 days in October 1582)? (Every year between 4th and 15th October he could bet these suckers that nothing happened exactly [current year minus 1582] years ago) I was referring to England in 1752, but close enough for a *****SPOILER****** Basically, John bet everyone that they "couldn't name ANYTHING that happened in England on this day in 1752". If they said they couldn't honestly think of anything and so wouldn't take the bet, he told them "Make it as mundane and simple as you like. It doesn't have to be a major occurrence". So then they'll say something like "Someone went to the bathroom" at which point John would inform them that they were WRONG, laugh at them, and take their money. He would start this on September 3rd, but naturally on September 14th he would have to stop because things did actually happen on that day in 1752. Good job everyone, and good job Docd getting the last part. |
