I have seen belowos in many places, mostly online, but I have not yet seen one on the LTPF Forum. And from past experience, I doubt it is possible but will probably not be able to test it out until after this puzzle is finished. Also, there is such thing as a super-belowo which accounts for a small fraction of all belowos and, depending on the location, may not be possible even if a regular belowo is. In fact, off the top of my head I can only think of one example of a super-belowo although I know of many belowos . So what is a belowo and what do I mean by super-belowo ? |

If it is not possible on LTPF, would that be because of technical limitations (the way the forum is set up to function)? Because of the type of behavior that occurs on LTPF? Because of the type of people who visit here? |

Some of this too, although this alone wouldn't render it "impossible", per se Because of the type of people who visit here? Only as it fits in with the behavior |

Is a belowo an image? a web structure (for lack of a better word...an example would be nesting replies on a message board)? A subject of conversation? A flame war? A style of conversation? Is a belowo related to time? (For example, we can't have a true live chatboard on this site because we can't all log into an area simultaneously, so everything here occurs on a kind of a time delay.) |

When you find belowos outside the internet, do you find them in spesific media? like newspapers? magazines? could be either of these books? Not really are certain requirements necessary for one to see a belowo? Please explain what you mean by this Are images relevant to a belowo? No Is a belowo a type of coincidence No, although a super-belowo could be considered one (for instance, two people answering the same question without realizing the other has done so)? But not this another type of event? Yes for svv of "event Does a belowo result from the actions of one person? could be multiple people? could be Does a super-belowo require more people than a regular belowo? Not necessarily Is a belowo related to posting? DOYD of "posting" but yes Or to some aspect of the forum software? Yes Search function? Sorting order of threads or posts? User ranks according to post count? Looking up all posts of one person over their profile? Seeing the thread in which one person is most active on their profile? Signatues? The user information right next to the post? But none of these Is uploading attachments relevant? Embedding links or images or spoilers via tags? Using buttons for formatting your post? Editing your post? Deleting it? None of these: Remember, I don't even believe it's possible on the LPTF, although as a hint, we will probably find out when this is $poyled. Writing your post in a font/font size/color other than the default one? No |

No, although I suppose it could apply in certain cases Is a belowo something that continually exists (like a technical feature, a background image, etc.)? or is it something that occurs at a particular point in time, like the simultaneous question-answering example I gave above? This is a tricky one to answer. Once the belowo occurs, I suppose it would exist indefinitely. Just see below though because Galfisk asked a very relevant question Is censoring relevant? YES! Such as changing or deleting swear words? Yesish Special caracters? no Breaking the forum by using html or other code in a post? No Are belowos usually intentional? No How about super-belowos? No If not, is it possible to make an intentional super-belowo? It's possible, but I don't see why anyone WOULD do so. A regular belowo can also be done intentionally, and it's slightly more likely that someone would do that than an intentional super-belowo, but I still doubt it. Is time or date stamps involved? No |

Does it involve an automatic word censor deleting a string of characters within a word, when there is no etymological relation between the words (for instance, changing "shuttlecock" to "shuttlec***")? Does it involve a change in meaning resulting from deletion of a word? |

Is a super-belowo where the filter strikes twice in the same post? Or strikes again when someone tries to correct their initial censoring? Or strikes twice in the same word? Such as Assassination->Buttbuttination? A regular belowo could be this or Biograd's answer, or it could be when they censor the whole innocuous word because of the presence of the other word, for instance "John Wilkes Booth *********** Abraham Lincoln at Ford Theater". Basically, a belowo is when an innocuous word gets censored in one way or another due to the presence of a "bad" word with no relevance inside it. I'll tell you that a "super-belowo" will always be of the assassination -> Buttbuttination variety, and furthermore that that example might be considered a super-belowo depending on how you look at things. After you determine what that is, I will post the $spoyler And if you're wondering the etymology, it's because I have seen "hello" get censored on sites for young children due to the presence of the word "hell", and that could conceivably cause "hello" to be changed to "belowo" as well, if they changed "hell" to "below" rather than censor it completely. Although that would probably not be a super-belowo. |

Can't think of an example right now, but is it a super-belowo, when the "new" word actually makes sense but changes the meaning of the entire sentence? Due to the "new" word having several meanings and just seeing the sentence without its context, it isn't clear which meaning is the applicable one? With "new word" I don't mean what is "butt" in the "assassination -> buttbuttination" example. Here, what I mean by "new word" would be "buttbuttination". Are e-mail addresses relevant? People who couldn't get an address containing their real name because their name contains a string that's not allowed? |

Or maybe when the replacement of the first word causes a new censorable word to be formed, which is then censored too? Though I'd have a hard time thinking of a word that could work that way. |

Is a super-belowo when the censorship creates an actual word? Yes! When it still sounds dirty? Well, aside from the fact that it was never dirty to begin with, YES! ****SPOILER**** A belowo is when a harmless word is censored in whatever matter due to the presence of a "bad" word inside. For instanse ******inate or rendering as all *******. A super-belowo is when it actually becomes dirty, for instance "buttbuttinate". While "butt" is less dirty than "a**", "buttbuttinate" is dirtier than the perfectly harmless "assassinate". And the example I was thinking of was the infamous "Tyson Homosexual" story from the 2008 Olympics Qualifying Trials. The American Family Association is a notorious anti-gay news source, going so far as to censor the word "gay" in articles its OneNewsNow news feed picks up to "Homosexual". Their article on USA Sprinter Tyson Gay thus read "Tyson Homosexual was a blur in blue, sprinting 100 meters faster than anyone ever has". And, even more ironically, particularly considering they are extremely anti-gay, a later part of the article read " 'It means a lot to me,' the 25-year-old Homosexual said. 'I'm glad my body could do it, because now I know I have it in me.' " Thus falsely calling him a homosexual in an article which praised him in spite of the fact that they are anti-homosexual and have run many articles criticizing (real) homosexuals. Not to mention the innuendo created by bringing homosexuality into the quote by Gay. Although I actually just realized that right now while reading over it. Good job everyone, especially Balin! Another neologism puzzle is about to be posted, although it won't be just about identifying the neologism, but also solving a legitimate LP puzzle. You'll see. |

Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated"." |
