trying again Bill glussed his wife. She was not harmed in any way, but she was frightened and called the police, who went to his place of employment. Result: Embarassment all around. There is a word in common use for this, but I consider it a misnomer, so am offering a more expressive coinage. |

Did she know that it was her husband who glussed her? Did she think it was someone else? |

Did she expect to be glussed? Did Bill gluss her intentionally? The "someone else": H? A? M? A co-worker of Bill's? |

Did the glussing involve calling her on the phone? Having someone else call her on the phone? sending an email? leaving something home with her? taking something of hers when he went to work? |

Did she expect to be glussed? No Did Bill gluss her intentionally? NO! Explore. The "someone else": H? A? M? A co-worker of Bill's? The "someone else" was someone that she thought was involved, but was not. However, other people were involved, including Bill's workmates. Did the glussing involve calling her on the phone? YES Having someone else call her on the phone? sending an email? leaving something home with her? taking something of hers when he went to work? No to all of these. Excellent questions! |

was she frightened because she thought she had a heavy breather on the line? or because she recognised her husband's number, but as he wasn't saying anything she thought he'd been kidnapped or something? |

Was Bill at work when the call was made? If not, is it relevant where he was? |

was she frightened because she thought she had a heavy breather on the line? No or because she recognised her husband's number,Yes but as he wasn't saying anything she thought he'd been kidnapped or something? "or something" - but it was not just that he wasn't saying anything. Was Bill at work when the call was made? He was not at his place of employment. He mayhave been running an errand, on break, or just took off. If not, is it relevant where he was? Yes, but could be misleading. |

Was he on the toilet? I've had two butt calls from my husband where I could hear everything! Although I wasn't concerned enough to call the police! Just annoyed that he was locking up the landline. |

Was there a radio programme on that she could hear? YES. ******************SPOILER***************** Bill was listening to rap music on his car radio when he accidentally butt-dialed his wife. Hearing just snatches of threatening words, she thought there was a hostage situation at the school where he worked, and called the police. All was finally explained. This is based on a case in Illinois, with several sources. Google "butt-dialing." But I think that is a misnomer. Your butt doesn't have fingers and can't dial, and a cell phone doesn't have a dial anyhow. So glussed = gluteal + pressed. Thx to Balin, Biograd, and Lynne, who filled in the final clue. |

Nice -- "embarrassment all around" definitely describes that! |
