I watched an old movie with an "exotic" setting and an international cast. The accents couldn't be faulted, and I knew at least one of the actors was American, but a statement made by one of the characters indicated that this was not a U.S. production, and all the actors had been "coached," and not very well. It was also not a very good movie. What was the giveaway? | ||

Did the characters in the movie claim to be Americans and you discovered that the actors clearly weren't? I knew that she was a US citizen, as her character claimed to be in the movie. I wasn't sure about the actor portraying her husband. It was also not a very good movie. Is this relevant? Yes! They made an error showing lack of research and a sloppy production. Also it was a film the forum members would probably not have heard of. | ||

Carrol Baker's character spoke of marrying her husband by "special liscence" which does not exist in the USA. The actor playing her husband was an older man who did the entire performance with his teeth out. I wonder if that was to disguise his (British) accent? | ||
