(New here- hi everyone!)

How did you get up there? More importantly, how do you expect to stay up there long enough to get back down again?

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Is the question being asked? To "you"?
Are both "you"s referring to the same thing/person/being? Is "you" H? A? M? (human-adult-male)
Up: in a tree? A tower? A mini-golf windmill?

Is the question being asked? Rhetorically, I guess, but not directly To "you"? yes
Are both "you"s referring to the same thing/person/being? yes Is "you" H? no A? ish M? gender unknown and irrelevant (human-adult-male)
Up: in a tree? A tower? A mini-golf windmill? None of those, though now I have the strangest urge to mini-golf

Were they attracted to some kind of light? I suppose, but not necessarily

CLARIFICATION: I said "adult-ish" for the HAM question because I wasn't sure if terms like "adult" were applicable to the moth lifecycle. That answer should probably be a "no" instead, just to avoid being misleading.

Do you have a good reason to hesitate to reach to, or disturb, or remove the moth or moths?

Um, off the top of my head, there is a pet giraffe which no one wants to move. That sort of reason?

Is there a commercial reason, such as your neighbor wants to try a moth spray that ... no, that doesn't sound sensible even to me.

Cheers!

is the ceiling particularly high? maybe not unusually high but too high to reach, plus the larvae like to hide in corners where I can't hit them with the electric fly swatter even if I could reach that high particularly low? so no

Do you have a good reason to hesitate to reach to, or disturb, or remove the moth or moths? no

Will the cocoons themselves be damaged? Will the insects be physically damaged (ie. squished, punctured, etc)? will they die before they're ready to emerge? Will they try to emerge, but be unable to? Will they die from: lack of oxygen? Starvation? Lack of some other substance? Too much of some substance? From an object? From something living? Something in the air?

Will the cocoons themselves be damaged? Will the insects be physically damaged (ie. squished, punctured, etc)? will they die before they're ready to emerge? /b{this, because of...} Will they try to emerge, but be unable to? Will they die from: lack of oxygen? Starvation? this! Lack of some other substance? Too much of some substance? From an object? From something living? Something in the air?

You've got it- here comes the
----------------SPOILER----------------

I came back from my time off this August to find my dry goods had been colonized by some kind of destructive moth. I threw out a lot of food and went at every moth I could find with my electric fly swatter, but there was always one or two that I missed to start a new buggy generation. After a couple months of this and several moth life cycles, a funny sort of natural selection seems to have happened, where the only moths to survive are the ones inexorably drawn to high places where I can't reach. This instinct has gotten so strong that now larvae are so strongly driven to climb that they don't build up a sufficient fat reserve from my food (and those that venture down get thwacked), so they seal their cocoons and then just wither away inside, never to emerge.

And this is what happens when you eat through my favorite shirts.
