Before he woke up, was he ...asleep? ...unconscious? ...under anesthetic? ...in a coma? Had he taken a substance that made him sleep or lose his consciousness? Did he get a head trauma? Was he attacked by somebody? By something? Was that something in the box? Did the thing that got Luke into hospital happen ...inside the airport? ...outside the airport? Did Luke open the box? Did the box contain ...a plant? ...an animal? ...a weapon of sort? ...an electronic device? ...clothes? ...food? ...drugs? ...something expensive/valuable? Is Luke the rightful owner of the box? Did he steal it? Was it stolen from him? Was it still in his possession after he woke up? Did the box come out of a plane? Had Luke been on the plane out of which the box came? Was Luke supposed to get the box for somebody else? For himself? Did the box have about the size of ...a shoe box? ...a trunk? If not, was it smaller than a shoe box? Bigger than a trunk? |

Did Luke pack a cat into a box? When Luke picked the box up, was it the same box? Was it still the cat? So, when he opened the box, he saw a cat, right? Did it look different from what he had expected? Was it injured? Had it eaten something that it shouldn't have eaten? Had it damaged something? Did it look scary in a way? Did it make a strange sound? Was there anything else in the box? If so, was it something that Luke didn't expect to be there? Or had Luke expected something to be there that was now missing? |

So, Luke put a cat into the box before going on the flight and when he opened the box after the flight, there was a different cat, right? Did he faint because the cat was different? Did the cat hiss or make a face at Luke because it didn't recognize him? The cat he put into the box, was it a domestic cat? Was the cat he saw after the flight a domestic cat, too? Or rather a wildcat (cub)? Was the cat that he put into the box missing? Do we need to find out what happened to the cat he put there? |

Schrödinger in any way relevant? (hey, cat in a box - had to ask...) Did the cat have some special value or meaning to the man? Did he faint because he realized he had lost the cat? Was he trying to smuggle something inside the cat? Is it important in what way the cats were different? Did he expect the cat to be dead and it wasn't? |

This reminds me of the UL where a family notices their dog playing with something in the backyard, only to find out said plaything is the neighbor's pet bunny, and bunny is no longer among the living. In a panic, they clean up the rabbit and carefully place it back in its hutch. Later they hear a fuss next door and ask what the problem is, only to find out that "Some insensitive weirdo dug up the rabbit we had buried and put it back it its cage! The kids are devastated!" Did someone replace the dead cat with a live one? Someone working at the airport (either arrival or departure)? Or for the airline? Did it look like his dead cat (except for the being alive part)? |

I have two cats at home and putting one in a box would require special assistance from the Army :-) So, the cat he put in the box was dead? Did he personally bring the cat to the airport and handed it out to the personnel there? When he retrieved the box, was it the same box? Did he only think the cat is dead, while in fact it wasn't? Was it a different cat? If so, of a different color? Is anyone else relevant in the story? |

Luke's cat died while he was away somewhere. Since it was his beloved pet, he decided to put it in a box and check it in as luggage, so he could bury it at home. But somebody at the airport (baggage control?) discovered the dead cat. Thinking it was their fault it was dead, he/she decided to replace it with another cat, hoping he wouldn't notice. Upon opening the box and seeing his cat alive again (he thought), Luke had a shock and fainted. Anything I've missed? |
