In attempt to clear my false assumptions: Was there an event (such as a party)? Did they drink the alcohol? Did they get caught? Wild leap- did this occur at a school? In high school, our cafeteria began offering $1 slushies, which I loved. They stopped when a student somehow slipped half a bottle of tequila in the mixture. I'm told they almost sold out of slushies that day before someone found out. |

I accidently grabbed wine instead of grape juice once during Communion...I did not like it at ALL. Urg. Tasted disgusting. I'm probably never going to ever drink alcohol again because of that...Not a big loss though. This was when we were in Egypt, so I wasn't arrested or anything for underage drinking :-). |

Kyeann, usually Communion wines are -- how shall I put this -- not exactly in the upper echelons taste-wise. Not that I'm encouraging you to become a raging alcoholic or anything, but don't give up on all alcohol just for that reason. I'm not a fan of the Communion wine at my church, but there are a few wines I do like, and beers and liquors have very different tastes as well. I definitely fall in the fan-of-liquor category (and boy there are a lot of different flavors there), but I've had people who have a taste for beer tell me that even different brands of beer have different tastes (though they all taste the same to me). I've never been to a church where they have both grape juice AND wine -- that's interesting... does your church/denomination do that all the time? Oh, and as far as I know, you cannot get arrested for underage drinking for drinking Communion wine (unless there's some strange specific state statute against it where you live) -- they can't prevent it when there's an "established religious purpose." There are many generations of Catholic children (just FYI, I am only talking about Catholicism because it is the denomination I'm familiar with... don't feel qualified enough to speak on others) who go through First Communion around 2nd grade, when they always take the wine (blood)... From then on, it's their option to take or not as they will (and believe me, it's always wine, never grape juice, which is probably why I didn't take it for years and years -- you're right... BAD taste). Okay, random overly-involved speech done... we now return you to your regularly scheduled puzzling. Sorry for taking over for a second there, Balin. :-) Is it relevant whether the people involved are under or over 21? If so, are they over 21? under 21? Was the incident in question something you read/heard about? rather than actually being present at? "two obvious reasons": Was one of them the prohibition against underage drinking? Was one something about having common sense regarding possible effects of drinking/getting drunk? |

Was the beer in the bathroom? And you tried to throw it away? And got in trouble for possessing beer because the RA happened to notice you bringing it to the garbage? At UConn, we were told "Don't leave beer cans in the halls or the bathroom, and don't take beer in the halls if you're underage, even if the cans are empty." I asked what would happen if you were carrying someone else's beer can that they improperly left in the hall, and you were en route to the garbage when they caught you. Was it in some undesirable location? You said it wasn't the bathroom, but was it... a ditch? A bus? A sporting venue? Right outside your dorm room? Inside one of your classrooms? Inside one of the classroom buildings? ( UConn actually has a building called the Classroom Building, which is just a placeholder until we find a new name. One of our other new buildings will be named the Oak Building, which we joke is going to be named after Professor Oak from Pokemon. But it's named after Charter Oak, a symbol of Connecticut ) Anyway, was it in a dorm? In some public non-academic building on campus? (Like the basketball arena or the student union)? Outside? In some major outside location (like right outside a building or at the soccer field)? Or just some random location outside (like in the middle of a field)? Was it inside your dorm room? Outside your window? On your windowsill? Did someone throw it through your window? Throw it at you while you were in your dorm room? |

Did you bring it inside your dorm room? Did a room mate? If so, was the roommate 21? Do you have a roommate at all? Did someone break into your room and leave it there? Put it there when the door was open? |

Did a guest leave it there? A former resident? This Was it underneath something? Was it very old? And this, which is the information I was looking for. Was the can damaged? **********SPOILER********** Last year, I found a year-old beer can hidden in the ceiling of my dorm room. (The expiration date was visible on the can.) I knew not to drink it because a) it was a year old and b) I was underage. I posted my finding on Facebook with the comment "I don't know what to do with it," and four people suggested that I drink it. In the end, I left it where I found it; for all I know, it's still there. Nice work everyone, new puzzle in a bit. |

http://www.menshealth.com/mhlists/things-to-do-with-beer/ Yes, I could probably have made another goofy list, but as it turns out, someone else already has. |
