This is a new kind of latventure I'm trying out. Tell me what you think when it's done, this puzzle should be fairly quick. You find yourself in a dark, damp room. You're sitting in some sort of hard container...What to do now.... |

Feel around. What does the container feel like? It's smooth, cold, and hard. The bottom is slightly bumpy. Look around. What can you see? Almost nothing. You can just barely make out some sort of soft wall to your right, and a hard wall to your left. Is there any cheezburgur in the container? =) Why not? You find a cheezburgur and nomz it happily. *can't wait until you find out what the container is* |

Can you push on the soft wall to your right, i.e. does it move? If you stand up, can you touch the ceiling? Feel around wherever you can--the walls, the floor, and if possible, the ceiling, for a light switch. |

Can you push on the soft wall to your right, i.e. does it move? It does, with a slight rustling sound. If you stand up, can you touch the ceiling? No Feel around wherever you can--the walls, the floor, and if possible, the ceiling, for a light switch. You can't seem to find a switch. You do find a hole in the floor. Of course, this is all inside the container. |

Describe the soft wall in more detail. What is its texture? You feel the wall. It's very slick, it seems to be made out of some sort of plastic. You notice that the soft wall is about five feet long, then meets walls at either end that are hard (so, basically it's a rectangular box with the soft wall being one of the long sides). The soft wall is not attached to the hard walls, and you feel around it. On the other side, the soft wall is rougher, but also a bit softer as well. |

I believe we're in a bathtub or shower, and the "soft wall" is actually a shower curtain... You would be correct! Open the curtain. Can you see anything? With the curtain open, you can just barely make out the room. You are in a full bathroom. The shower/bathtub has shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bubble bath inside. On the counter is a fish tank that desperately needs cleaning, a toothbrush stand with a couple toothbrushes in it, a sink, and some foaming soap. Below the sink is a cabinet, with towels and dog shampoo inside. You peek into the medicine cabinet and find medicated lotion, conditioner, and a tube of toothpaste. You glance up and find the source of the light: a skylight with the smallest of moons shining through. |

Does the fish tank have a fish in it? In any case, take one of the toothbrushes and scrub the tank with it. If there is no fish, then use any one of the soapy things you have to help you clean (if there IS a fish, then we might not want to harm it by sudsing the water--the fish may be good for something, plus I'd think we generally want to be nice to animals). |

Does the fish tank have a fish in it? Yes, a betta fish In any case, take one of the toothbrushes and scrub the tank with it. You take one of the toothbrushes and start scrubbing. Within moments the toothbrush dissolves into powder. This is one strange bathroom... If there is no fish, then use any one of the soapy things you have to help you clean (if there IS a fish, then we might not want to harm it by sudsing the water--the fish may be good for something, plus I'd think we generally want to be nice to animals). I've given you all the materials to clean the tank properly. |

Perhaps it is a good idea to transfer the poor fish to somewhere else before continuing with the cleaning process? Fill up the bathtub with an ample amount of water and transfer the fish using the fish net. Also, try to kick down the door. |

Perhaps it is a good idea to transfer the poor fish to somewhere else before continuing with the cleaning process? That would indeed be an excellent idea! Fill up the bathtub with an ample amount of water and transfer the fish using the fish net. ...Have any of you ever owned a fish? Because you need to make any new water safe for the fish, using water conditioner. However, you do fill the bathtub up. Also, try to kick down the door. You try. Your foot bounces off the lock and you kick yourself in the shin. Ouch. Upon closer inspection of the lock, you see what happens: whenever the lock is hit, it turns to a very bouncy rubber lock. Seriously, what is up with this bathroom?! |

Are there any empty bottles/cups/other containers? No, and you don't need any. If you can put water conditioner in the bathtub, you can clean the tank. If so, we can plug the sink and fill that with water from the fish tank, then transfer the fish there and clean the tank. So you can't do this. |

OK, condition the bathwater. Clean the fish tank. Condition that water. Put the fish its happy home. Step on the edge of the bathtub. Pull down the curtain rod and remove the curtain. Drape the curtain over your head and arms. Use the curtain rod to break the skylight. Hopefully the curtain protects from falling glass. Climb out through the skylight hole. (Unless this is a bad idea...) |

OK, condition the bathwater. You do so, inferring that you also wish to put the fish in the tub. Clean the fish tank. You do this as well, and find a key hidden in the thick layer of algae. Condition that water. Done. Put the fish its happy home. The fish seems much happier. It gives you a small plastic cup. Step on the edge of the bathtub. Check. Pull down the curtain rod and remove the curtain. Double check. Drape the curtain over your head and arms. Triple check. Use the curtain rod to break the skylight. Quadruple check. Hopefully the curtain protects from falling glass. It does. Climb out through the skylight hole. You do so, by leaning the pole against the edge and scooting up the pole. You are now on the roof. (Unless this is a bad idea...) Now I'm impressed. This is exactly what I was thinking of for you to do to get out! Nice job! |

Sooo... Are we finished? Nooooo... :-) Remember, this is a new type of latventure. Look around. You do so. The roof is covered with snow, except for the area where the skylight was. Strangely, it's raining, but the rain turns to snow as soon as it gets to about seven feet above the roof. Considering what the bathroom was like, though, you aren't surprised. The roof slants gently down to about twenty feet from the ground (your pole, in case you were wondering, is about five feet long). And Ciaobella is free to claim a cheezburgur for getting out of the bathroom, if she wants it. Can she haz cheezburgur? :-) |

Go and look over the edge at the wall underneath, that is provided the snow is not too slippery. Would there be any foot/hand holds to climb down? Are there any other openings in the roof, for example a chimney or a skylight of another room? |

Go and look over the edge at the wall underneath, that is provided the snow is not too slippery. You head over. Would there be any foot/hand holds to climb down? No, and looking down makes you dizzy. Apparently you're afraid of heights. Are there any other openings in the roof, for example a chimney or a skylight of another room? No chimney or skylight in sight, but you do see a suspiciously snow-free spot a little ways away. |

Claims cheezburgur. Nomz. Yum. :-) Throw the snow on the ground until you get a nice, soft little pile. You try. The snow appears to be stuck to the roof. Is it big enough to jump on? So, no. Inspect the snow-free area. You head on over to the snow-free area and look at it. The snow has melted in a nice, neat rectangle on the roof. It seems to be just that-a bit of the roof. You do notice a hole. Is it possible to make a parachute out of the shower curtain? Sadly, your dear shower curtain has been cut up by all the falling glass. So, no. And by the way, when you were climbing out of the bathroom, you lifted up the curtain and it stuck to the edge of the skylight. That's how you were able to climb out, in case any of you were wondering about the 5-foot-tall bathroom (although there was so much other strange stuff in there it really wouldn't matter). So, the bathroom is of normal height. Not that that's really relevant. I am very proud of myself for coming up with that explanation at six in the morning. Self-advertisement: People who liked this LatVenture also liked Kyeannpepper's old LatVenture, titled [Kyeannpepper] My First Latventure! People who liked that adventure also liked kittehs and cheezburgurs! =) |

Inventory. Is it possible to see how deep the hole is? If so, how deep is it? Does it have any particular shape? Put finger in hole. If it hurts, pull finger out of hole. If not, feel around. Does the key fit in the hole? Get metal bits if possible. Inspect metal bits in any case. Can you see any persons below? Is it possible to get at least enough snow into your hands to make a snowball? If both yes: Make snowball. Take careful aim. Throw snowball at person. If more than one person, repeat for each person. When finish, emit evil laughter. |

About half an inch Does it have any particular shape? Put finger in hole. Ow. If it hurts, pull finger out of hole. You do so. If not, feel around. Does the key fit in the hole? It does indeed! Get metal bits if possible. They won't budge. Inspect metal bits in any case. They look like the inside of a lock. Can you see any persons below? Yes, one person. Is it possible to get at least enough snow into your hands to make a snowball? Just barely. If both yes: Make snowball. Okay. Take careful aim. Aimed. Throw snowball at person. You do so. Solid hit! If more than one person, repeat for each person. Just the one person below. When finish, emit evil laughter. You are in the midst of your evil laughter when a snowball hits you in the face. That's if the person hasn't walked or run away to avoid getting pelted with another snowball! She hasn't run away, in fact, she has another snowball in hand. You notice that she has one of those snowball makers by her. You also note that the snowball maker is a snowball maker/thrower. (I have one of these and it is AWESOME!) |

Is there a kitteh? =) Considering that I'm making this up as I go along, I don't see what harm the presence of a kitteh could do. You hear a mewing sound and find the source of the thump. A patch of snow had become un-stuck from the roof and a kitteh with gold-orange fur, white toes, a white underbelly, and white tail-tip rises up. Her name is Sunspark. I just went all the way back to one of my old Warriors RP-ing sites to get that description. The link is livetheclanlife.wetpaint.com. Another good one is wild-warrior-cat-clans.wetpaint.com. While continuously watching for and ducking any snowballs that might be coming, try pulling at the key. Tell the person below that a vindictive attitude is harmful to one's personality. If any snowballs are coming along, try to catch them in the air and throw them back. Is the roof tiled? Is the person below sufficiently fat and cuddly to act as ample cushioning for a jump from the roof? Throw kitteh at person. Look down the skylight into the bathroom. Has anything significant changed down there? |

While continuously watching for and ducking any snowballs that might be coming, try pulling at the key. It won't come out! Tell the person below that a vindictive attitude is harmful to one's personality. Her eyes widen, and she seems about to speak...until she pulls out a book and starts reading it. If any snowballs are coming along, try to catch them in the air and throw them back. She is throwing a snowball or two. You're impressed, you wouldn't be able to throw a snowball while reading a book. Anyways, you catch them and throw them back. She leans away whenever you do. Now how she is able to tell when they're coming is beyond you. Is the roof tiled? Yes. Is the person below sufficiently fat and cuddly to act as ample cushioning for a jump from the roof? LOL, no. Throw kitteh at person. She catches the kitteh gently and smiles at it. She petz it and givez it cheezburgur. Teh kitteh enjoys teh cheezburgur very much. Look down the skylight into the bathroom. You do so. Or, you would, if the skylight hadn't changed to more tiling and became part of the roof. Has anything significant changed down there? Like I said, you can't see down there. |

Pry loose a tile. Add to inventory. They are stuck far too firmly to the roof. You do manage to get some sticky tar. Ask person if it is a good book, and what it is about. Without looking up, she replies, "It's The Mysterious Benedict Society. It is a good book, and Balin should really read it. While you're at it, ask the person if she is an important part of the puzzle, or just a red herring. She says, "Puzzle? What puzzle? Oh, hey, am I part of an LTPF puzzle?" She sets down her book. "I'm on the LTPF as kyeannpepper. I think you won't be able to get down from there until you get something important. What that is, I have no idea. Although, I've been reading this puzzle, and apparently, I'm the host. So I should know, but don't. Ugh. This gives me a headache." And with that, she goes back to her book. Is it possible to get anything to come loose along with the key if I pull hard enough? No. Try to turn key again, or fiddle around with it to get it out. You can't turn it, it won't come out. Looks like the key is out of your inventory for good. walk around on the roof, look for interesting features. Unless you count the magically sticking snow, or the rain that turns into snow, nothing interesting. Is the edge of the roof lined with gutter? Yes, it is. If so, is there a vertical pipe connected to the gutter along which it is possible to climb down? No, it just dumps into a rain barrel set into the ground. |

Is the curtain rod sharp enough to poke through the coating of snow on the roof? No If you catch some rain in your cup, does it immediately freeze, or does it stay liquid? You manage to catch some rain by attaching the cup to the pole with the tar. The rain stays liquid, and a ladder immediately lowers from the roof. The girl looks up. "I guess that was what you needed. Why you need rain, well, I don't know. Come on down, I'll make hot chocolate." You head down the ladder, following the girl. "My name's Saph, by the way." (For obvious reasons, this is not my real name) Saph hands you her book. "If you see Balin, could you give this to him?" You nod in agreement. "Are you mute or something? Reminds me of The Trumpet of the Swan. That's a good book too. C'mon, I'll show you my room." |

Huh that was an unexpected success. Out of curiosity, why did you need to attach the cup to the pole to catch the rain, rather than just holding it out with your arm? The rain was falling over the roof too, right, not just out away from the edge, since it was sticking to the roof as snow, no? Anyway, I guess you should follow her to her room--though now that we've escaped that house I don't know why we need to go back IN? And all this stuff about falling snow piling up reminded me of this game (It's REALLY addictive): http://befungames.com/games/play/island-survival |

Oh, I think I see. It didn't turn to snow on contact with the roof, but some distance over your head... But now that I see I had one FA (more like a misreading), let me ask whether Saph is actually on the ground, or just on the roof of a lower building? If she's on the ground, is there some sort of fence or other obstruction, such that you can't just leave? |

Huh, that was an unexpected success. You head into the house with Saph. She makes some hot chocolate. "I made the mix myself, it was really easy. Except when my mom opened the tin the first time, it went all over the place!" Soon you have a piping hot cup of hot chocolate, which you sip on the way to Saph's room. Her room is painted purple, and she has a large bookshelf overflowing with books. Saph notices you staring at the bookshelf. "Yeah, I have a lot of books. I go the to library a bunch too, as I've read all the books I own about a dozen times." Well of course I know why you need to go back in. But until you realize how...*emits evil laughter* And all this stuff about falling snow piling up reminded me of this game (It's REALLY addictive): http://befungames.com/games/play/island-survival Oh, I think I see. It didn't turn to snow on contact with the roof, but some distance over your head... Right. But now that I see I had one FA (more like a misreading), let me ask whether Saph is actually on the ground, or just on the roof of a lower building? She's on the ground. If she's on the ground, is there some sort of fence or other obstruction, such that you can't just leave? Yes, a 10-foot-tall fence. |

Think I could have that book now? You recall your promise and give Balin The Mysterious Benedict Society. Do any titles stick out on the bookshelf? Well, there are a few that are literally sticking out of the shelf, but nothing in particular. I meant, through the 10-foot-tall fence. You ask Saph. "Well, there's a gate, but it's hard to leave through because of the dogs. They'd escape if you left it open. I don't use it that much, it's really only to get the lawn mower from the garage to the lawn. The garage door's been broken for about a week now." |

Ask her if you can look through--and behind, the books that stick out from the shelf. If so, do it. |

Ask her if you can look through--and behind, the books that stick out from the shelf. If so, do it. She gives you a strange look. "Um, sure. I don't know what good that will do you, though." You look through the books, and behind the ones that stick out. All you see is more books, and a bit of purple wall. Meanwhile, Saph has been wandering around. "That's weird. Why is my bathroom locked from the outside? Hey, see if you can find a key or something, 'kay?" |

Strange... By any chance, can we find The Hunger Games on the shelf? (I know you're on a Hunger Games kick, what with the movie coming out and all...) |

What else is there in her room besides the bookshelf? By the way, here is a thread about lateral adventures in another forum I sometimes visit: http://debateunlimited.com/Debate/viewtopic.php?t=14268 |

Strange... Indeed... By any chance, can we find The Hunger Games on the shelf? (I know you're on a Hunger Games kick, what with the movie coming out and all...) We do find The Hunger Games, along with Catching Fire and Mockingjay. I watched the movie on Friday! It was awesome and stuck really close to the book. What else is there in her room besides the bookshelf? A bed, a chest of drawers that is locked (in other words, you don't need to get into it), a couple of nightstands, a lamp, and a reclining chair. By the way, here is a thread about lateral adventures in another forum I sometimes visit: http://debateunlimited.com/Debate/viewtopic.php?t=14268 Nice. I bookmarked it! |

Finally got around to reading the first book. I thought it was good. Might read the other two. Anything in or on the nightstands? |

Finally got around to reading the first book. I thought it was good. Might read the other two. You should go see the movie, if you haven't already. The other two are good, the second is a bit more philosophical stuff, and the third is pretty much all philosophical stuff. Not as...exciting, but still very good. Just not as much action and stuff. The third is also rather confusing (well, at least to me). Anything in or on the nightstands? Each of the nightstands has a drawer. In the first is...more books. In the second is...more books. This is based on my bedroom. As you can tell, I read a lot. When I got back from my mission trip, I discovered that my mom had totally redesigned my whole room. It was awesome! |

*******BLOOPER******* There is also a fish tank in the room, this time a five gallon one with a filter, an algae eater, and three neon tetras. There is also a small can of fish food. |

I also read a lot. It must be in the LTPF genes (if they exist at all)... I agree. Feed the fish. You look at the fish food. It has three different foods: flakes, granules, and...sun-dried baby shrimp?! You decide on the granules. The fish are happy, and give you a Kindle charger. The sun-dried shrimp are so creepy, I had a nightmare about them once. Seriously, it's like they're still alive, but frozen or something. You can still see their eyes and everything....I also had to peel shrimp once and it freaked me out. You tug on it and the legs make this jerking motion because of it and it looks like they're alive. |

I bet this would seriously freak you out then (it's definitely weird to me): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxQmOR_QLfQ Wow, I wonder where those fish were hiding that charger! Anyway, is there a Kindle anywhere on any of the furniture in this room? |

Cayenne pepper? Cheezburgur? Kitteh? =) 'Kitteh' works, and you can now view the Kindle's main screen. There are seven pages of books. For obvious reasons, not the real password to my Kindle. |

Sorry about that, had to leave for the airport right after school. Anyways.... You try the key on the bathroom door. It works! As soon as Saph enters the bathroom, you remember everything-then vanish. OK, the point of this latventure was to find the items for a connection puzzle. The two items were 'rain' and 'person'. I'll explain even more when I get back from Wisconson. |

Kyeann kitteh has not started LOTR *haz a sad*. Kyeann kitteh's mommy kitteh is taking her to the library tomorrow so she can get LOTR *haz a happy*! Itz reely 4 kyeann kitteh's book report on White Fang, but kyeann kitteh will get LOTR while there. Full **************SPOILER************** The connection between 'rain' and 'person': rain->shower->tub person->man So, tub+man=Tubman. Yeah, not the best of connections. Of course, now that I actually understand how these work, I'll do better. Hopefully. |
