Waldo? Was he lost? hiding? Should have described it to someone specific? to a group? "Should have" because it was the right and moral thing to do? because it would have been more practical? |

"He" -- H? A? M? Yes "They" -- H? A? M/F? Yes with a mixture of men and women Waldo? No Was he lost? No hiding? Noish Should have described it to someone specific? No it's more wondered aloud to a group? to themselves really "Should have" because it was the right and moral thing to do? Neither , it would have helped them in their quest but only in my strange little world where grass is blue and the sky is green because it would have been more practical? Not really |

was he hiding in a haystack? so if they said it was as hard as looking for a needle in a haystack it might have inspired them to look there? |

was he hiding in a haystack? No but....... so if they said it was as hard as looking for a needle in a haystack it might have inspired them to look there? Excellent work Shez... you've hit on a key component of the solution . The phrase needle in a haystack is very relevant and laterally could have led them to the perp sooner. Great lateral leap there Shez |

aw shucks..was his name Mr Needle? No but again you are bang on the right track as the man's name is relevant and there's a humourous aspect to his name. This is a well documented murder hunt in the UK which was the first to use a specific method of criminal detection You've all you need now with a bit of creative googling |

Mr. Magnet? Is he the guy that all the ladies are attracted to!!!!. That's a no I'm afraid. Think about crime detection advances in the fairly recent past. In fact it's probably the most significant advancement in crime detection ever. |

Pitchfork? Yes Bale? Is his name more related to the needle? The haystack? The rest is easily googled so I'll post the ........ ***************Spoiler**************** DNA was first used to convict someone in the UK in 1987 when Police were trying to catch the brutal killer of two young girls. Progress on the case was very slow and with no suspects they took the drastic course of carrying out a mass DNA screening of 5000 local men. DNA methodology was very new at the time. One local man Colin Pitchfork paid a friend £200 to provide a sample in his place. When the friend was overheard boasting about this the police arrested Pitchfork. His DNA matched the crime scenes and he was subsequently convicted and given two life terms. So when looking for a needle in a haystack start with a pitchfork. Thanks for playing |
