If you've ever had a sleepover as a child, you probably know the brytec phenomenon. What is brytec?

Can we gather if the sleepover was as a child, the tec of brytec is not technology?
But then my sleepover friends would have been Shem, Ham, and Japeth.

Deholmes, are you talkin' about my generation?

Would brytec usually affect only one child? more than one? the whole group?
Or is it more an adult's reaction? ('For heaven's sake, go to sleep!')

Is it related to: beds? Sleep? Time? Social interaction? Food? Parents? Toys? Communication? Envy?

Can we gather if the sleepover was as a child, the tec of brytec is not technology? not technology, correct
But then my sleepover friends would have been Shem, Ham, and Japeth.

Deholmes, are you talkin' about my generation?

Would brytec usually affect only one child? more than one? this the whole group? or this
Or is it more an adult's reaction? no ('For heaven's sake, go to sleep!')

Is it related to: beds? Sleep? Time? Social interaction? this is closest Food? Parents? Toys? Communication? Envy?

What is a sleepover, in a few words? A party during the night? A sleepover is when one or more kids sleep at another kid's place. A party is not necessarily involved.

Relevant how many people are at the sleepover? no Can you experience brytec if only one person is sleeping over? yes

I re-thought the whole thing, and I should add that brytec is probably more common at girls' sleepovers. I've obviously never been to a boys' sleepover, but I guess they don't experience it that much, if at all.

Relevant how old the children are? not really. It probably works best for younger children, but I've also observed a similar thing in grown-ups if so, teen-agers, or younger?

Any relevance in the fact that a sleepover is the worst named event ever as in my experience when my 3 daughters have their friends over to stay, sleep doesn't seem to enter into the equation.

Is being in a strange house relevant? being afraid of the dark? needing the toilet in the middle of the night? cuddling a teddy? Does the brytec phenomenon result in feelings of fear? sadness? happiness? giddyness? embarassment?

Does the brytec phenomenon affect the child who's house it is ? her guests? the parents? siblings? everybody?

Noise levels relevant?

Any relevance in the fact that a sleepover is the worst named event ever as in my experience when my 3 daughters have their friends over to stay, sleep doesn't seem to enter into the equation. Haha :D But no, not relevant

Is being in a strange house relevant? being afraid of the dark? needing the toilet in the middle of the night? cuddling a teddy? no to all Does the brytec phenomenon result in feelings of fear? sadness? happiness? giddyness? embarassment? no to all, it's pretty neutral

Does the brytec phenomenon affect the child who's house it is ? this her guests? and this the parents? siblings? everybody? no to rest

Noise levels relevant? no

Does the one who sleepovers really sense this phenomenon? no, good question! know it better when grown up? yesish, I only recently noticed it

Not sleeping at all relevant? no

I should clarify that a sleepover is not essential for brytec to occur, but it's a situation in which it is relatively common

"BRushing Your Teeth Extra Carefully"? Exactly!

********SPOILER********
Brytec is the phenomenon of performing acts of personal hygiene extra carefully.
At sleepovers or at summer camp, girls seem to brush their teeth more carefully and for a longer period of time than they do at home. I'm not sure why they do it, but I assume it's in order to show the others how well-behaved, hygienic and concerned about their health and body they are.

(I guess there might even be an inverse brytec for boys because they want to show how little they care about their parents' rules and how bad*ss they are...)

Thanks for playing, folks!

At least in my youth, I experienced brytec a couple times. Now I don't care as much.

I've only experienced the reverse. Usually it was about forgetting, or staying up until we fell asleep without even turning out the light.
