(Grip) A Little Paper Cut

Postby Grip » Wed Dec 21, 2016 9:52 pm

The man handed the paper to another gentleman. The gentleman read it and laughed. He then showed the paper to a woman. The woman read the paper in disbelief. She then brought the paper to her sister who read it and then angrily ripped it up.

What was all that about?

Re: (Dref) A Little Paper Cut

Postby WiZ » Wed Dec 21, 2016 10:17 pm

Was the paper a newspaper? A leaflet? Essay of some kind? Did it contain relevant words? Images?

Is there any relevant relationship between the gentleman, the woman and her sister? If so, Is it familial? Through work?

Was the content of the paper offensive? Controversial? Did it mention any of the characters by name? Did it concern them relatively directly?

Are any of them spies? Is there criminal activity going on? Are there any coded or hidden messages involved?

Did the original man write the paper? Did any of them?

Era relevant?

Are they medical professionals? scientists? teachers?

(irrelevant to this puzzle, but to "D'oh" which is now solved - I see it was about you using a prior name in your puzzle header, and because I've been away so long and don't know you under this name, I'm now curious as, well, a kitteh, about what the other name was. :P )

Is the form filled in correctly? Does it have a drawing of how the accident happened? If so, is the drawing relevantly funny? Bad? Misleading? Ridiculous? Are any of the reactions caused by the fact that he got hold of this type of form? Or the fact that he did fill it in? Or give it to them? Or when he filled it in? Or what Writing/drawing implements he used? Are all of the reactions only related to the content he put into the form?
Is the man a celebrity? Do we need more about him as a person? Does he refuse to sign the form because his signature is worth a lot of money?

Is the way the letters looked relevant? If so were they huge? Tiny? Embellished? Did he write using baby language? Did he write as if the people were idiots? Had he come to them with other forms before? Did he write in anger? Frustration? Spite?

Did the ridiculous part involve: him? His car? The events of the accident? The damage to the car? Did he relevantly include unnecessary information? Such as his zodiac sign? Religion, superstition or the supernatural relevant?

Did he say something impossible happened? Like "a tree appeared out of nowhere and hit me"? Something funny? Like "I went up the wrong driveway and hit a tree I don't have"? Did he claim something ridiculous happened? "My car jumped the fence and started chasing the cow"? Did he claim the car failed before the accident? That he had a medical issue that caused it? Did he claim to have issues controlling the car? That it didn't respond correctly to controls? That he was hit by a meteor?

YES Like "a tree appeared out of nowhere and hit me"? not specifically this, but very OTRT Something funny? yes Like "I went up the wrong driveway and hit a tree I don't have"? but not this Did he claim something ridiculous happened? yes "My car jumped the fence and started chasing the cow"? but not this, what he wrote was impossible, funny and ridiculous but as for your three examples, the closest to what he wrote was your example of something impossible

Did he claim the car failed before the accident? That he had a medical issue that caused it? Did he claim to have issues controlling the car? That it didn't respond correctly to controls? That he was hit by a meteor? no to rest

Is it a sign? Is it bigger than a human? Is it a porta potty? Did he go off the road? But claims this thing went on the road?

So his claim is essentially that a stop sign suddenly appeared in the road, and he was unable to avoid it in time?

***** SPOILER *****

The man is at his insurance office trying to make a claim. The other gentleman and the two sisters work there, with one of the sisters being the boss. The gentleman (who is the person at the desk who you give the form to) reads the claim and laughs at it's absurdity. He decides to share it with his supervisor, who when she reads it can't believe its stupidity. So she shows it to her sister (the boss) and the sister not having a good day is annoyed by it and rips it up as they are obviously not going to accept such a claim.

What he wrote:

"As I approached the intersection, a stop sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident."
