Are the words themselves relevant?

Do "the temple", "the theatre" and "the train station" all refer to one specific temple, theatre and train station?

The temple = a religious building? If so, Hindu? Buddhist? Greek? Roman? Christian? Jewish? Other?
The theatre = a movie theatre? a playhouse?

Any of the following relevant (trying to come up with an "LTPF list of recurring topics in Balin's puzzles"...)? Baseball? Other sports? Movies? Music? Murder? Agatha Christie? other writers?

Sent PM Responded

Are the words themselves relevant? No

Do "the temple", "the theatre" and "the train station" all refer to one specific temple, theatre and train station? Yes for all

The temple = a religious building? No If so, Hindu? Buddhist? Greek? Roman? Christian? Jewish? Other?

Any of the following relevant (trying to come up with an "LTPF list of recurring topics in Balin's puzzles"...)? Thanks!
Baseball? Other sports? Movies? Music? Murder? This, No to rest Agatha Christie? other writers? You can add "musical theatre" to that list. It's not relevant to this puzzle though.

Both PMs are correct; I'll consider that part of the puzzle solved.

The four locations are all places where a U.S. president was assassinated.

Now, which is the odd one out?

Is anything about the presidents themselves relevant? If so, their names? parties? 1st vs 2nd term?
Is the weapon relevant? Is the murderer relevant?

Are any details of the actual assassinations relevant? The fate of the assassins? I guess it's possible to make a cogent argument for each one to be unique so I'm assuming there's a lateral angle here?

If they were all stabbed instead of shot, would the same place still be the odd one out? Or if they were blown up? If the presidents and assassins all randomly traded places in space and time, would the same place still be the odd one out?

Relevant whether they were interacting with the public at the time or not? Relevant how long after the acts they actually died? Relevant whether they died in things bearing the names of other presidents?

Are any physical features of the platform/buildings/car relevant?

Appearance laterally relevant: their height? Weight? Facial features?

Things that might be relevant about the presidents: something about the dates on which they were assassinated? which number president they were? the year(s)/date(s) they were elected? how many terms they served? former occupations? former offices held? something that happened before they were president? something that happened during their presidential terms? something to do with their families? vice presidents?

Haha! That's puzzling :D

Are the ages of the presidents when they were assassinated relevant? the way that the news of the assassinations was communicated to the public? anything else about historical documentation of the events?

Just went back and reread some earlier questions. Appearance is noted as laterally relevant. Appearance at their funerals? Open vs closed casket? Viewings (or lack thereof) of the bodies? Depictions/recordings of the assassinations? (In that vein, anything to do with the fact that [I think] Kennedy's was the only one that has a recording of it?) Memorials? Portraits of the presidents? US currency relevant?

Garfield's likeness is not on any US currency and never has been as far as I know, so does that make the train station the odd "man" out?

Garfield's likeness is not on any US currency and never has been as far as I know, so does that make the train station the odd "man" out? Yes, exactly.

****SPOILER****

Those four locations are all places where a United States president was assassinated. The train station is the odd one out because it is the only one whose assassinated president never appeared on US currency. (Lincoln appears on the $5 bill and penny, Kennedy on the half-dollar coin, and McKinley on the (no longer in use) $500 bill.)

Huh, didn't even know there was a $500 bill, let alone that McKinley was on it. Cool!

I would have guessed at "traffic," as Kennedy was the only president who was in motion at the time of his death...

Good one!

Actually, believe it or not there was for a very brief time in the mid 30's a $100,000 dollar bill (Woodrow Wilson was the portrait used). It was only for use between Federal Reserve Banks, though. Nowadays they only print $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills. The $2 dollar bills get printed only sporadically, the most recent printing of them was way back in 2003.
