[Hobbsicle] Fatal Fête (Tripler)

Postby Hobbsicle » Sat Apr 08, 2017 3:29 am

Time for another tripler for March. I've randomly chosen three different puzzles that were solved in the month of March, each from a different author, and combined elements from each to form a new puzzle. Solve it just like a regular puzzle. This time, instead of specifically needing to guess the three puzzles I'm working from, I will reveal them automatically when you have discovered their corresponding elements. So it may help you to review the puzzles solved in March, but it isn't strictly necessary. Good luck!

Setting: 1800's England at a fine country estate. Wealthy heiress Margaret Blackwood and her two daughters are hosting a gala at their manor, and the local aristocrats and upper class are trading gossip and hors d'oeuvres as servants weave through the crowd, whisking away empty glasses and fulfilling requests. Suddenly, a woman is heard screaming from the garden, and Margaret and her guests stream out to see one of the other male guests lying dead on the ground, clothes and face covered with burn marks and soot, and some leaves clutched in one hand. Later, they find a cheap necklace and a torn corner of a handwritten page in his jacket pocket. What happened?

Are the leaves from a nearby tree? Did the man die from a fall? Is the necklace cheaper than what the guests would wear?
