[Doriana]'s Frankenpuzzle

Postby Doriana » Thu Apr 27, 2017 7:32 pm

This puzzle combines two of my favourite sources for puzzle inspirations, lacrosse and my work.

My work as an experimental psychologist has equipped me with a skill that is also useful for a lacrosse goalie. Can you find out what it is?

Does it involve making physical movements? Is there a behavioural/psychological aspect, perhaps one which can be applied to the opposing team? Would it benefit equally a player in a different position on the team?

Would someone receiving a similar education to you, but lacking the work experience, develop this skill? Is it something you have picked up in the day-to-day machinations of your role? Could someone working in a similar workplace environment but with a different industry classification pick up this skill also?

Does it involve making physical movements? Yes for svv of "movements" Is there a behavioural/psychological aspect, perhaps one which can be applied to the opposing team? No Would it benefit equally a player in a different position on the team? There might be contexts in which this is the case, but assume no for this puzzle

Is the skill useful for: catching incoming balls? Returning them to play? Helping your team? Distracting or sabotaging the other team? Reflexes relevant? Eye-hand-coordination?

Are there things relevant to this puzzle that a lacrosse goalie is allowed to do but players in other positions are not allowed to do? (For instance, in soccer/football, generally only the goalie is allowed to touch the ball with his/her hands.)

Did you participate in a relevant experiment? Study a relevant topic? Observe relevant patients?

Is it useful before the game? During? After? During practice? Os it useful when someone tries to score against you? When your team is doing something specific? Do you use psychology knowledge on someone? If so: yourself? Teammates? Opponents? Officials? Spectators? Does this increase your team's chances of winning?

So it's useful during practice: on the field? during play? during a specific drill? On the sidelines? When talking to teammates? Are any activities the team does before/after practice relevant? Uniforms relevant? Team spirit relevant?

Does the skill most directly: improve your playing? Improve teammates' playing? Help the coach? Help in practice specifically, not directly in the game?

Is the skill itself directly related to psychology? To experimental procedure? Did you pick it up because of a specific experiment you were involved in?

Does the skill affect the words you say? How you say them? How you use your voice? Does it make you communicate better? Does it help you coordinate the actions of others?
