Is it part of a costume? A device? Decorative? Equipment of some sort? Can it be worn? Is it visible when you walk on the street?

Is your profession relevant? Do you not actually require it, but it is assumed to be required by others? (eg, a stethoscope which most doctors don't actually need but might wear to reassure patients.)
