they: H/A/mixed? rock = music style?Rock'n roll? A stone?
Assuming rock= stone...let the rock do its job = not stop the rock? Was the rock rolling? Was the rock used by other humans? Did the rock have an initial purpose (I mean was it used for a specific task)? Was the rock on a mountain? Was something relevant on the rock? Was it a sculpture? Was there something painted on it? was the rock meant to squash/flatten something? To activate something? Was it part of a weapon? Was the rock near a river? Near a place where rocks are commonly found?

assume rock = music... was it a concert? Rock on a radio? was someone listening to rock music? do its job= talk about someone? make someone dance?

If the rock had done its job...would something positive happen? Positive for someone in particular? For human being?Would someone have died? A "bad" person? Someone belonging to the past that reveal himself a bad person in future (es Hitler when he was young)? Is an accident relevant?

In this context, would having "done its job" mean that the rock weighted something down? held something in place? blocked the path of something? hid something from view? knocked something over? ground/abraded something? created heat by friction?

Would the rock have done this as one complete piece? or would the rock have been broken up/crushed/etc. before it could accomplish this?

Is this, in fact, something that a rock could actually do? or merely something that the name of the rock (if it had one) suggested it could do? (In case you are confused what I mean, for example there is a rock in the mountains in North Carolina called "Blowing Rock", yet obviously a rock can't literally blow anything)

were here other rocks? Used for a similar purpose? Was the "bad" person a condemned? A H/A/M? Is he/she alive? Is he/she famous now? Was she/he at the time?

The rock didn't do its job because of the accident? Because someone prevent it from doing its job? A law? A person? Was the rock directly used to kill someone?
The rock was used to flatten something: an animal? A plant? A body? Was the rock big?I mean...could a human alone move the rock? Or many people were necessary to move it? Was it bigger than a football ball? Was the rock a simple rock or somehow manufactured? Was the rock part of a mountain? Part of something (for instance a cliff) or simply found on the street? Relevant?

Was the rock meant to be launched? If so directly by human? Was it meant to be pull out of its place of origin? Was the rock meant to be used against the "bad person"? Was it meant to kill someone? Was it meant to prevent an accident?

Accident: mines relevant? Is dynamite? Are quarries? Dams?

Hint: All the characters involved are fictional. Also, think about the story of David and Bathsheba to figure out why the 'bad' person is 'bad'

Did the bad person kill someone? Arrange their death? Commit adultery?
