[IrishElk] The Prestige

Insecure filmmakers should set their movies in the Midwest.

No puns in this one, but my tongue is firmly set in-cheek.

I'm an insecure filmmaker, so maybe I'll take your advice.

Does this advice stem from a certain incident? A certain film? A certain director? A certain genre? A pattern related to films set in the midwest?

Should because: they will feel more secure in some way? they will actually (theoretically) be more secure in some way? They will appear more confident to others? their film is more likely (theoretically) to be successful? There will be less danger? Risk?

A certain state in the Midwest?

Insecure about: box office success? Critical success? Directing? Writing? Cinematography? Lighting? Sets? Costumes? Props? Casting? Their actors?
Hollywood being on the West Coast relevant?

I'm an insecure filmmaker, so maybe I'll take your advice. Somehow I doubt it once you figure out the reason.

Does this advice stem from a certain incident? A certain film? A certain director? Yes to all. A certain genre? No. A pattern related to films set in the midwest? Yope.

Should because: they will feel more secure in some way? Yes. they will actually (theoretically) be more secure in some way? They might! They will appear more confident to others? No or irr. their film is more likely (theoretically) to be successful? Yesish. There will be less danger? Risk? Yes, "risk" is closer.

Westing1992

A certain state in the Midwest? No.

Insecure about: box office success? Yesish. Critical success? Directing? Writing? Cinematography? Lighting? Sets? No, but this is relevant. Costumes? Props? And this. Casting? Their actors? No to rest.
Hollywood being on the West Coast relevant? No.

So, does this the film this advice is based off of feature a cornfield? Children of the Corn? Field of Dreams?
North by Northwest?

Do farmers pay the filmmakers to help harvest the corn for them?

Is advertising relevant?
