[kalira] Dial M

Postby kalira » Thu Oct 12, 2017 1:24 pm

A cool drink was not quite enough. It seems the investigation is the tipping point. And I guess we have overlooked something that came after.

Well let's see how this goes :) Been a while! Hopefully this isn't too painful

Hi!
M for murder? Is a murder relevant? A cool drink: any chilled beverage? An alcoholic beverage? One specific beverage? Cool=cold? Awesome? Emotionally distant? Drink=drinking water? Beverage? Body of water? Stream? Investigation: of a crime? By law enforcement? We=law enforcement? Criminals? Is a crime relevant? Came after: in time? In space? Something: an event? An object?

Good to see you again!

Just a thought - do "cool drink," "investigation," and "something that came after" refer to three different of the same thing? (such as three movies, three albums, that type of thing) If not, do any two of those?

Does "a cool drink" refer to "one specific instance of the drink" or "the drink in general"? (for example, "a specific glass of Coke" versus "Coca-Cola")
Is the drink tea? Iced tea? Ice-T relevant?

A frappuccino or something similar?

Was the drink requested? Sought after? Mentioned? Used in some way?

Investigation: of an object? Of an incident? Of a person (e.g. interrogation)? Of an idea or theory?

Tipping point: From "not quite enough" to "enough"?

We: Is this a true story? Are you personally involved? Is the "we" general? Or referring to yourself and others?

A frappuccino or something similar? I believe just regular iced coffee is the closest description (I have never had it, so I'm going based on description), but of a certain variety

Was the drink requested? Sought after? Mentioned? this Used in some way?

Investigation: of an object? Of an incident? Of a person (e.g. interrogation)? Of an idea or theory? none of these

Tipping point: From "not quite enough" to "enough"? to "enough to satisfy a certain criterion," yes

We: Is this a true story? Are you personally involved? Is the "we" general? either this Or referring to yourself and others? or this

Sorry for the somewhat wishy-washy answers. All shall become clear.

A brand of iced coffee - perhaps a Coolata or something similar?
(Despite the stereotype of New Englanders and Dunkin' Donuts I do not frequent the chain)

A brand of iced coffee - perhaps a Coolata or something similar? Less brand of iced coffee, more brand of coffee that has been iced.

Don't drink enough coffee to know brands... only other one I remember is
After Eight?
from watching Supermarket Sweep as a kid...

Is there a crime involved in the investigation? A conspiracy? A scandal?

It's not After Eight. HINT: I happen to know you specifically have heard of this brand. Also it's apparently an instant coffee brand rather than a traditional coffee?

Is there a crime involved in the investigation? A conspiracy? A scandal? None of these. It might have been more accurate to term it an ordeal than an investigation (HINT: but I didn't know that at the time.)

Nescafe?
...I must have mentioned it in a puzzle or puzzle title.

Is an actual Nescafe product relevant? Or just the word Nescafe?

I can't help but wonder from the orange answers... is this a Halloween puzzle?

Hmm, I get the feeling I'm taking the slowest possible path to the solution. Let's try something else.

Is a synonym for "investigation" relevant? Is a fictional investigation relevant?

Hmm, I get the feeling I'm taking the slowest possible path to the solution. Let's try something else. It always feels like that, doesn't it? You've actually made a bigger leap than you think you have, though.

Is a synonym for "investigation" relevant? Yes Is a fictional investigation relevant? Doubtful in reality, but perhaps in someone's imagination

Is the synonym for "investigation" also a brand name of something? Is the "something that came after" another brand? If either of these are brands, are they also of drinks? of foods? are they other Nestle brands?

Is there wordplay in this puzzle? Is "Nescafe" combined with another word (or more, or part of a word)?
