[WiZ] Quantity over Quality

Postby WiZ » Sun Apr 15, 2018 11:53 pm

A man buys a house in a new town and moves in. After a month, he walks into a place of business and presents them with an original rates demand and utility bill. This place of business typically has zero interest in seeing such documentation, so why did he do it?

Probable quickie. No caveat earlispoilor as quite easy.

Does the business then do something in response to seeing them? Presumably he waits a month because that is how long it takes for the first bills to arrive? Or another reason? Is it for ID? Is it a photocopying business? Is it the department of social security/benefits? Is it a post office and he needs to buy an envelope + stamp? Are these his two forms of ID, such as is required for a bank account and various other things?

Does he also wait a month so that he has received his first salary?
Is it his own business, a friend's business, the business that employs him, or another business?
Is it to prove his address?
Is he there to pay the bills? Is he contesting the bills? Is it relevant that it's those particular bills? Would it work with other bills?

Ok sorry again for ignorance...I understand utility bill but I did not get "rates demand" is it electricity/water or something correlated?

Did he want to be repayed back? Had this specific place of business zero interest in seeing such a documentation? Did he have relations with that business? Relevant the reason why he changed town? For searching a job? Because it was asked by his boss? To do a survey/research on other places of business?
Anyway we established that it does not matter which bills he presented right? So are there relevant information a part from how much money he paid for the bills that he wanted to disclose to the business owner? Did he live in the nearby? Like the business was at the first floor and he was at the second or sonething similar? Relevant? Relevant that the house was new and he just moved in? Was it to complain with business for sonething? Was it for him to be employed by the business? Did he own an ID? Did he lose it while moving in the new town?

Relevant which business took place on it? A business typically consuming lot in terms of electricity/water...? Was it related to food

Has the place of business issued any of the bills/Demands? Is he trying to prove a point? Do the bills cover a period before he took ownership of the property? Does the place of business sell something relevant?

Are both the rates demand and the Utility bill originals? Is that relevant ? Would a photocopy have achieved the same aim?

Any relevant crime? anyone's death relevant?

Ok sorry again for ignorance...I understand utility bill but I did not get "rates demand" is it electricity/water or something correlated? 'Rates' are the annual tax for home owners imposed by the local council - they pay for things like libraries, public transport, rubbish collection etc.

Did he want to be repayed back? no Had this specific place of business zero interest in seeing such a documentation? yes, in their usual course of business Did he have relations with that business? he was a customer Relevant the reason why he changed town? no For searching a job? Because it was asked by his boss? To do a survey/research on other places of business? n/a to all
Anyway we established that it does not matter which bills he presented right? correct; the specific bills do not matter So are there relevant information a part from how much money he paid for the bills that he wanted to disclose to the business owner? yes Did he live in the nearby? yes Like the business was at the first floor and he was at the second or sonething similar? no, not that nearby Relevant? It's relevant that he did not live on the same street as the business, at least Relevant that the house was new and he just moved in? no Was it to complain with business for sonething? noish Was it for him to be employed by the business? no Did he own an ID? yes Did he lose it while moving in the new town? no

Relevant which business took place on it? yes A business typically consuming lot in terms of electricity/water...? not relevantly Was it related to food yes

Good questions.

Peter

Has the place of business issued any of the bills/Demands? no Is he trying to prove a point? yesish Do the bills cover a period before he took ownership of the property? no Does the place of business sell something relevant? yes

Are both the rates demand and the Utility bill originals? yes Is that relevant ? Probably not in this case (although I'm not sure I can remove my property lawyer hat for this one :)) Would a photocopy have achieved the same aim? probably

But don't try fronting with any photocopies if you're doing your own property conveyancing.

Any relevant crime? no anyone's death relevant? no

Does the business produce food? E.g. butcher's shop? Backery? Pizzeria? ... is the smell coming from the shop relevant? A good smell? A bad smell?(e.g. the one coming from the butcher?...)

Really no idea on how those documents are nade but...is the info mostly regarding: adress? General info? The measure in which he turns the light on?

Did he actually used electricity? Did he perfectly understand what he needed to do? Did he understand what he was supposed to pay? Was him supposed to compile a part of the documentation? In going to the business did he expect to save money in future? To have suggestions? When he presents them with such documentation, did he want to show them the content of it? Relevant how many papers there were? Did he use the documentation in a different way?(e.g. to eat the pizza?) Did he go there as a customer? To buy something? To have discounts on something? Was him required to present such documentation? Does that documentarion change from town to town? Did he want to open a business as well? Adresses relevant? I mean...was that documentation relative to the consumes of the man? Or those of the place of business? Relevant the relative position of business and man's home?

Does the business produce food? yes E.g. butcher's shop? Backery? Pizzeria? yes; no to rest ... is the smell coming from the shop relevant? no A good smell? A bad smell?(e.g. the one coming from the butcher?...)

Really no idea on how those documents are nade but...is the info mostly regarding: adress? yes, this is important General info? there's another important piece of information on it The measure in which he turns the light on? no

Did he actually used electricity? yes, but irrelevant Did he perfectly understand what he needed to do? Yes (although 'needed' is debatable) Did he understand what he was supposed to pay? FA Was him supposed to compile a part of the documentation? no In going to the business did he expect to save money in future? no To have suggestions? no When he presents them with such documentation, did he want to show them the content of it? yes Relevant how many papers there were? no Did he use the documentation in a different way?(e.g. to eat the pizza?) No, but I love the mental image Did he go there as a customer? yes To buy something? not necessarily at that point in time To have discounts on something? no Was him required to present such documentation? no Does that documentarion change from town to town? It changes as he moves from town to town Did he want to open a business as well? no Adresses relevant? yes I mean...was that documentation relative to the consumes of the man? yes Or those of the place of business? no Relevant the relative position of business and man's home? no

Ok...first of all...relevant that it was a pizzeria...relevant the nationality of the owners? Italian? :) Did they have a debate on the making of pizza...typical italian's discussion....
Then...did he have to pay something? Were the pizzeria and the house of the man on the same street? With a similar address? Relevant?
Was there on the document also the previous address? Is the piece of info he wanted to disclose a number? A name? His real name? Surname? His origins? Was there a discount in the Pizzeria for the residents? Did he want to witness it? Like a sort of discount card? But he actually had the ild ID...I mean the ID with the old residence?

Is his intention to arrange future delivery of pizza's ? To maintain a relationship he had before moving home? are postcodes relevant? Land registry info? Folio numbers? Apologies if that terminology does not travel.

Distance from his house to the pizzeria relevant? Planning permission?

Is the man's phone number relevant? Does it resemble the Pizzerias?

Ok...first of all...relevant that it was a pizzeria... there are a few types of establishments that this puzzle could work with, but a pizzeria is the most obvious relevant the nationality of the owners? no Italian? :) He would be less likely to have this problem if the owner was a recent migrant from Italy Did they have a debate on the making of pizza no ...typical italian's discussion.... Heh. Even in the English-speaking world, a surefire way to start a fight is to ask whether or not pineapples belong on pizza...
Then...did he have to pay something? not at the time Were the pizzeria and the house of the man on the same street? no With a similar address? no Relevant? Yes - this puzzle wouldn't work if they were on the same street
Was there on the document also the previous address? no Is the piece of info he wanted to disclose a number? no A name? yes His real name? and yes Surname? and yes! His origins? no Was there a discount in the Pizzeria for the residents? no Did he want to witness it? no Like a sort of discount card? no But he actually had the ild ID...I mean the ID with the old residence? no

Peter

Is his intention to arrange future delivery of pizza's ? yes, big ish To maintain a relationship he had before moving home? no are postcodes relevant? no Land registry info? In general, absolutely. To this puzzle no. Folio numbers? no Apologies if that terminology does not travel. Is OK

Distance from his house to the pizzeria relevant? no Planning permission? no

Is the man's phone number relevant? no Does it resemble the Pizzerias? no

So he wanted to give his name and surname to the pizzeria for deliveries? Is the man born in England? Has he got an english name? Is the name and surname actually necessary for deliveries? Were there two people with the same surname in the place where the man lives? Ringing the right bell relevant? Had he previously ordered pizza by delivery? If so did the "deliverer" make the same mistake repeteadely?
Problems with the delivery relevant? Is the surname of his neighbour "Bell"? (e.g. he always said at the phone to "ring the Bell" and the deliverer actually rang the "Bell's bell"?)

So he wanted to give his name and surname to the pizzeria for deliveries? yes Is the man born in England? Has he got an english name? yes to both (this scenario would, in principle, work in a range of languages and countries - as long as everyone involved is familiar with the same language) Is the name and surname actually necessary for deliveries? yes Were there two people with the same surname in the place where the man lives? no Ringing the right bell relevant? no Had he previously ordered pizza by delivery? Yes! If so did the "deliverer" make the same mistake repeteadely? big yesish, explore
Problems with the delivery relevant? yope! Is the surname of his neighbour "Bell"? (e.g. he always said at the phone to "ring the Bell" and the deliverer actually rang the "Bell's bell"?) Great lateral thought, but no

Is the man's surname similar to something else? HI address perhaps? Does the PIzzeria think it's a prank when he orders and therefore does not deliver? Does the Pizzeria have one of those offers if it takes them a long time to deliver you get the pizza for free?
